One of the guys growing the hottest fire here does about the same thing. And he gets the bud.
This is very true for indoor grow. Light on bud is main cause but never neglect terpenes that leaves generate. If a leaf does not block light to bud area it can only supplement. The buds actually explode with new leaves that may even need more trimming. Definitely gets more bud with good texture and flavor.

Hello everyone new to all of this currently first grow, I've done a lollipopping of my 4 plants just before flower like 4 days ago
(Have attached before and after)

My question is how much should I defoliate this top canopy and when? Just after the flower stretch period is done in around 2-3 weeks? (Photo attached of canopy)
Very nice setup -

People are afraid of things they don't understand... the fact that people do it is not proof of its effects but if you do it yourself, you may find you like it.

lots of growing tech it used to illicit a specific response... you don't do it just to do it... majority of active photosynthestic surface area exist on upper canopy leaves, lowers act as shade leaves forcing phototropic response to grow to the lights(wasted plant energy imho).

Also when the plant grows new leaves/or new roots, it produces cytokins/auxins which in turn help it vigorously grow. As long as you are not removing to much you are fine. There is no rule of thumb you will have to learn how each plant responds based on its objective health.

Topping terminal nodes illicit an effect that releases auxins as well..no one even knows this but they will quote the tech like their famous highschool classmate as their best friend...you know they don't know because they are afraid to remove leaves

I'll be doing all of this as apart of each of my rooms plants. Each rooms will hold 300 plants 2-3 varieties...

And if you don't believe it , just watch me do it...I've done it for yrs

if you are growing 4 plants and have predicated your crops value on a very small field. Then ya you might not want to go nuts... make a mistake cuase you dont know what you are doing

maybe start with just some lowest canopy leaves all gone and some inner to allow air movement and add point of light, but a healthy plant will not be impacted the same as a plant struggling

most growing tech is a form of low stress training and is not for unhealthy plants

most people think they have healthy plants ..so their is that too

thier are hundreds of articles on it for fruiting plants.. you wont find any , based on real science, that say it is bad unless used incorrectly like any technique.. the caveat is always to much is to much...well fucking duh... its not binary, its an effect, show me one thing in growing that doestn have a ceiling before it is considered a plant pest(abiotic. or biotic doesnt matter to the term plant pest).

grow by numbers crowd wont understand this subtle but dynamic truth about plants.

Sorry, but that makes little or no sense. Not taking the piss, but you might want to learn the difference between the words "their and there" and "to and too".
