Don't mind the plants. A few need some TLC.
220 watts of T-5
View attachment 3865531
200 watts of Horizon
View attachment 3865532 View attachment 3865533 View attachment 3865534 Each one of these should outperform my 440 watt 2'x4' T-5.
I went w/ 16" wide instead of 24" for more light density. Seems to be working out as planned. The light is getting deeper into the plants then the T-5 by a decent amount too.
Loving the Horizons.
What did those bad boys set you back?
What K temp diodes are they running?

They are around $300 a piece. The normal veg ones are 2'x4' using the same amount of rails & power but cover more area. The owner told me the 2'x4' units are perfect for replacing a T-5 but I was stubborn & asked for 16"x4'. I now see why. They're very bright.
These are 56K coming in @ 58ish on the meter w/o sacrificing red for blue.
In the one night I've had them up, my veg plants have perked up allot from the T-5. Looks like twice as much light using 2 like I am.

Maybe you could slap that fancy apogee under there at some point and get us some #'s vs your T5 bank?

These are some numbers I am REALLY looking forward to see here........thanks for taking the time to do this. :bigjoint:
I can't do mapping but I can flash the meter around. I'll have to use the 2'x2' T-5 to compare cuz it has new 65k bulbs whereas the big one has colors in it & is nowhere as bright. Same thing though.

To bad I couldn't get pics from the other side. The biggest plants are in the back. Pretty darn full in there. Think I'll be clipping some of the sites that are deep inside not getting enough light from my lack of de-fo & just plain thick ass plants. I'll be tending them this week n hopefully I can clean em up some. Pretty happy w/ what I'm seeing though. The Horizons & the Cloak deffinetly go hand n hand. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgI'll get you guys those readings tom night or Mon. At the latest. Just been real busy.

looks fantastic!
Thanks for the update garden is looking great.
Thanks guys! Really surprised more regular people/growers aren't trying the Cloak. Must be the price. It's a hit in the commercial world. But as I've stated before, it's pretty much inline w/ other good companies whereas the first harvest pays for the system at least twice over. Pretty good ROI even if the initial cost is more then some are willing to pay. The yields are redic.
It's all good though. I'll keep documenting my grows w/ it so others know.
Thanks for the support guys!

Did a major De-Fo last night. Still have the Kings to do but don't know if I want to. They're doing so well w/ their leaves. The ones in the back have leaves the size of my hand & are so healthy w/ tons of bud. I'd almost rather just cut off the sites inside the plant that aren't getting enough light rather then pluck off the leaves on the outside but hate cutting plant 3 weeks in. Afraid of hermie.
The one plant I didn't want a heavy de-fo on, the Sensi-Star, my girl went a lil crazy on, leaving it pretty bare. I know that strain well & it needs its leaves. I was pissed but smiled anyways. Lucky to have any help us know. This is a big garden & doing it all by myself gets tough. The SFV-OG is surprising me. Just when I thought it wasn't worth keeping, it's doing so well. Getting those high potency frosty curled edges on the leaves w/ lots of trichs on the big leaves too. It appears some strains really thrive well in the Cloak. I'm in the process of picking out strains just for this light system.
They all got a flush last night. I like to give about 4 flushes throughout flower to rinse the salts off the roots to keep uptake going well. I have a feeling this is going to be a record breaking GPW & G/sq' for me.
3-D growing is very under rated. These plants are surrounded in 250-400 PPFD & are producing better then anything I've seen using 1000+ PPFD on the top.

Here's the Horizons in veg. These plants got a heavy topping the other day, removing about 1/3 of the total plant from the top seeing how they still have another 1.5-2 months to go before they get flowered.
I'll be building a double tier shelving unit using the Horizons on each tier to veg my 6" Potts. Busted out the HH the other day to add heat to the room & attempt to bulk up a few plants that were hurting. These are pretty old plants. Can't wait to get back to a 2 month veg only. image.jpgI am surprised at how well they penetrate into the plants. Very even light distribution too. Loving these Horizons.

good on the defo

i got a prototype of the 1/8" aluminum vert bar frame
we went with bolts over weld so it could someday be disassembled..
will udate when i get the other 4 and assembled..
hooking all the 20 w drivers to as few plugs a s possible is the next saga[argh]
bought a bunch of 3pole wago's ..hope i can figure it out

these lights look great.looks like it would be really hard to run a perpetual rotation though chopping 1 plant a week .
Thnx! Probably a bit harder, yeah. These are multi-strain so there's 2 different size crates (milk crates & soda crates) I'm using to raise some plants to be as tall as the ones next to them.
I'd imagine the same technique would work in a perpetual operation.
Thinking about hanging my 3rd veg light (still in the box) sideways at the end-cap facing the Kings. Thing is, it's 56k & I'm just not sure if it's worth it being that spectrum.
I mean, I've flowered nicely under my 55k MH before so it should add to the bud growth i'd imagine.
I inteand on getting a 2'x4' 27k Horizon for that end-cap next run. If I'm gonna grow plants this thick n full, might as well try to get all i can out of them.
Still just so amazed @ what 150 w of these lil diodes can do. Was telling my ole-lady last night, remember the 100 w incandescent bulbs we used only some yrs ago. Boy, we've come a long way in lighting efficiency.
When I first started growing I would've used a 400-600 w hps to accomplish close to these kind've results.
Freaking crazy.
Makes me feel like I'm super wasting electricity when I supplement w/ CFL's.
Made 2, 4 bulb cfl hoods to go above the Snow-Dawg & Bubba Kush last night. 2,35k & 2,27k in each.
Really wanna totally rid the garden of any n all Floro lighting by next run. That includes the Veg. Room.
Maybe some full spectrum UV bulbs (like Power-Veg's), but even then, I'm looking to find an led replacement.
How's the new room going? Is the de-fo thing working out for you?
Decided to leave 2 of the 4 Kings alone & only plucked a few big-leaf off them to do a comparison. They appear to be doing well w/ that thick bush look. We'll see the difference if there is one. They are practically identical plants.

Looking forward to seeing it in action. Are you making a few bays worth or sticking to a single bay prototype for now?
What K-Temp did you decide on? SC originally shifted all their energy to the red end by replicating a 22k Philips DE bulb. Being such a low-wattage system it made sense to me. I'm now trying out the 27k blades now. They're working well but I won't know the difference in yield weight until I run them side by side w/ the same strain.
