Summer Breeze Trifoliate Redux

I have just come out of the other side of fighting the worst plant pest I've ever dealt with: russet hemp mites. My grow is entirely focused on providing my partner and I with needed medicine for our numerous health issues. We do not function well without it, but we live in a prohibition state and probably won't have legalization any time soon. Its cost us an absurd amount over the years to medicate, but now and then we've been able to grow our own. In our current setup we have had a few successes, but the mites kept it from reaching its potential.


Right now I have a unique sativa-dominant trifoil variant of Summer Breeze by Swamp Boys. My other clone strain I have is Gooey 13. Both of these have proven hardy against the pests. Summer Breeze especially does not seem even phased by them in the slightest in veg. All my other strains died off because of the mites and a horrible accident with my seed collection that got very overheated in storage while we were homeless a while back.


Anyway, the chamber I am running is 2x2.25'

I'm currently on day 39 and I have the wattage on the QB96 at 110 and the strips at 75. This pic still has the old QB wattage, but it shows my control setup.

Here are some shots from last night(Day 43 of 12/12). I just had to spray her down again because I found more hemp mites that must have evaded spraying last time. I have found a few herm nuts near the leaves that were infected which further reinforces my suspicion that these pests can cause herming.









Here is my mulch. I have put a lot of work into this mulch. its a couple inches thick at least.

i dont think the bugs caused the herming stress is more likely

Every single time I have found herm flowers they are in the same area as where I discover the hemp mites. Its well-established in other species that bugs can herm them, but it seems like cannabis growers largely have never heard of this concept. I currently have 9 other clones of that plant that are elsewhere and don't have bugs on them so we'll see how next run goes. I should try to take good notes because I think this is a very under-studied issue.

Either way its probably not a big deal since none of the male flowers seem to produce any seeds when they drop. Its like the plant is firing blanks or something. That's also something I have noticed where the hemp mites are bad; herming that drops useless pollen or no pollen at all. Very strange, but I am not sure how to really dig into that issue.

After the last spray of pyrethrum, I am seeing an increased downward curl in the leaf profiles and the leaf tips. This is especially true toward the top. I don't know if nutrient uptake is surging after getting rid of the mites(hopefully), or what. I'm going to give her a good flush and mop up the drain water just to be safe. She may also be experiencing a microbial surge from the molasses I gave it last watering(though it was a pretty small amount overall). At least she is still producing bud despite all the crap she's been through with these vile hemp mites.
