suggestions on my grow closet please!!??

Hey everyone,
Well i just ordered some seeds, red cherry berry, crimea blue, night shade & purple haze. i might just grow 2 of them at a time im not sure yet. but im growing them out of my closet, which isnt too big. you could probably fit about 4 people in it, maybe five. but anyways, i want to get a 175w HPS light. and i was just wondering if that would be good enough for veg and flowering stage? i was going to get the low of a watt so they wouldnt tell the difference in my power bill..
any suggestions? on lighting, the whole grow room in general. all opinions, and suggestions are appreciated..!!! (:

The 175 will work and wont draw to much power, however come harvest time you will be greatly disappointed. The density you looking for just wont be there. If your worried about the power bill then i suggest using some high watt cfls as supplement lighting. They run cool and don't draw a ton on your power. Something like this would work great for you in conjunction with an hps.

If power consumption is the only reason you are choosing to go that small, you should consider a 400 hps.
You could turn off the hps all together during veg and just use fluorescents.
1 four foot 2 bulb T8 would work for veg, assuming you have 4 feet of space in the closet.
I could be wrong, but I bet if you do the math, running this way would not take too much more than a 175 running all through veg.

In a small closet though, with a 400 hps you will definitely need to aircool the light. So, 175 might be less of a hassle if you live in a cooler climate and can get away with not cooling a 175.

I clicked on the link and it has this on the page:

Greentrees Opinion: Why people keep using these is a mystery to us. Compact fluorescent bulbs suck

Why are so concerned about your power bill? Most, if not all, power companies don't care what you use as long as you pay your bill on time and aren't using 10,000 watts extra.

im just going to get a 400w hps light kit, with everything in it. will that work for both veg, & flowering? this is my first grow. ive dont a hell of alot of research, but i want opinions from experienced qrowerss..! lol

I think the 400 is a great choice for what you are wanting to do. It is the lowest you can go and still get some nice buds.

It will work for both veg and flower. If you want to go optimal, get a digi ballast that powers mh or hps, which is most if not all of them.

Use MH for veg HPS for flower, you prbly already know that.

You might want to look into what it will take to aircool your 400 watt light. Depending on your outdoor temps, you might need it to keep a closet cool.
