I ran two Nanolux 315W for two years and one of the ballast died. replaced it with a Xtrasun 315W ballast, it is about 25 degrees hotter than the Nanolux ballast but it fires well.
I run my ballast remotely outside the tent to help keep the heat down.

Hello Gr865
Do you mean the ballast itself is 25 degrees warmer than the other?

Yes, the Xtrasun ballast is approx 25 degrees warmer than the Nanolux. That being said the Nanolux has airspace between the ballast and the wall, the Xtrasun is mounted directly to the wall. Wouldn't think that would make that much of a difference.

Not sure it means anything as both ballast are outside the tent.

Cheers man. I recently replaced a cmh ballast, it ran real hot, happened upon a new budget ballast to replace it and that is literally cold to the touch. It was so cheap I thought I would give it a try. God knows if there is a difference in light output, im too tight to fork out for such fancy toys. :eyesmoke:

Strange there is such a difference though ey.
