Suggestions for covering a 4'x4' organic grow - Vero 29's or CXB3590's?

Bonjour
There's no big price difference between vero29 and cxb 3070...maybe 7.50 $and cxa3070 are cheaper in kb!
But I didn't see any vero on the list yesterday! Out of stock I guess!
Have a great day ★

Looking at Lm/W specs it seems the Vero is more efficient, but I assume that isnt the way to tell actual efficiency?

Which bin you looking at?

Cxa3070 3000k ab is 140 at 1.4a what is vero29 3000k at 1.4? I know 3500k is 138.
Specs on Digikey are only at 1.95A, so I dont know L/W at 1.4A

Is there a sheet that compares Lm/W on all the major ones at all amperage's?
CXA3070, CXB3070,and VERO 29 at either 3000K or 3500K?

I run 8 in an area ~11 sp ft at 100 w each. Amazing growth. I hope to switch to the more efficient b3590's but these darn veros won't die...
It seems if you drive them that hard when you get the CXB3590s there wont be any advantage, unless you plan to under drive them you might be better off with the VERO

LED was hyped a little early as being 1/2 or even 2/3 better but it wasn't until LED was running over 35% efficiency that they could even equal 600w+ HID. So although there is an option with higher electrical efficiency Vero version 2 is still 15% more efficient than standard HID and on par with the very best current HID technology, and it will fit in any size/shape grow space. That being said, Vero 'saves' money by the watt but the cost per par watt is a different story...

I am interested in this approach.
How long have you been doing it this way?
I guess it is over 3 months now, really killing it so far with 9 lights in a 4x8 tent, I was able to yield 1 gram/watt and I am a pretty inexperienced grower. I am also going to be turning the lights up a bit higher, I think, it is coming on winter and the ambient temperature is so much lower that I expect I can run them closer to 39Vf without any over heating issues. Also running 3500k Vero 29s, super dense buds, much more so then same strain, different seed, outdoors, I expect with refinement I should be able to get 20-50% higher yield. Also tested at over 20% combined cannabinoids.

Glad to hear its working out so well for you!

If you are running 9 V29, on that supply, it works out they are running at 0.98A and draw 35.5W each, is this about right?

Are you in US or EU? For parts...
And choosing cxb going to rise the price...but if you look for efficiency and top quality cxb 3590 3500k 36V cd is the way to go plus hlg-185-1400b and according to the 25/30w per sq/ft you need 16×25/30w=400/480w for your 4x4!
So start with 2 x 200w pannels (cut in 4 or even 8 for optimal spreading) then add another one if needed
I heard about an hlg-240-1400 for 5 cxb...but is it on sale???? I wait for this one too! I will use this one for my next built, cause I need five.

He is trying to replace a thousand watts, sorry but 500watts will not come even close... My opinion is that the OP needs at least 900watts and the added benefits of going LED would be less heat and lifespan of lamps. I have never seen 30w/sq/ft growing dense large frosty nugs.

@GreenSanta Maybe true with generic LED lamps, but with high efficiency COBs like he is referring to we can cut HID wattage in half, maybe even a third if you spend the extra $$ on boosting efficiency. This canopy is running at ~25W/ft²

@SupraSPL , you might be right, and I will see for myself with my A51s soon enough I guess. I have grown with high quality LEDs and have never found them to really outperform HIDs on the yield... for me it was more about quality and also not having to put up with so much heat. My first impression when I first plugged all the units (10x90watts) was that they were not that bright and I was a bit disappointed, however the plants are really taking off under them and they look much healthier than they were before placing them under the COBs.

I have over 55watts/sq ft with my cobs now and I really hope I can hit .5gpw of nice dense frosty nugs.

I hope you will have 0,7 gpw @GreenSanta I don't know the efficiency of V29 on A51 panel but it must be around 40%...cxb 3590 cd are 56%...so if you're happy with the A51 think about what 3590 can do!...I guess 40% more bud!
Have a great day ★

The power supply has three outputs, they all output the same and adjust from like 36v-39v, 2.8amps each our something. So you can run 3 Vero 29 at about 100 watts each per power supply, 3 power supplies in the tent, 9 LEDs, 900 watts.

Hiya, can you tell me what watts and amps go to each as 2.8A / 100w is a bit much per single V29.
