Probably.
what you are looking for in a base soil is Structure.
does it have a good water to air ratio? not too heavy, or soggy. a light fluffy mix is best.
if it dosent drain very well, try adding Coco Croutons or Pearlite.
once you have a good base soil, its time to add your amendments.
8 large bags of high quality organic potting soil with coco and Mycorrhizae (Base Soil)
25-50 lbs. of organic worm castings
5 lbs. of Blood meal 12-0-0
5 lbs. Bat guano 0-5-0
5 lbs. Fish Bone Meal 3-16-0
¾ cup Epsom salt
1 cup Sweet lime (Dolomite)
½ cup Azomite ( Trace element)
2 Tbs. powdered Humic acid
*** If using an RO system add in 1/2 cup powdered Cal/mag
one thing i would add to Subcools Mix is GreenSand, it contains slow release K and micro-nutrients.
as far as the Air Pots go, i have never tried them, but i am a Smart Pot kinda guy and they both use the same process of air trimming roots.
i am a firm believer in root pruning containers, smart pots are just cheaper.
remember that Subcools super soil is only used in the bottom 3/4 of your container, use some base soil for the top few inches to protect your young plants tender roots from burning.

Good luck with the air pot grow man. I have seen a few videos on the air pot and am def going to give it a go next round. I seen a video where the same strain was in a air pot and a regular pot. they both had the same feed and growing conditions but the one inside the air pot was just monster.

Doesn't azomite have all the same as dolomite lime? Aside from it being volcanic rock dust. Having humic acid and worm castings is one and the same. Humic acid develops from worm castings. Why add cal/ mag? There's plenty of it in dolomite lime and azomite.
Hey claim digger had a very good look at the recipe but you said add a bit of Green Sand but roots organic has it in already, Also is there any alternative soil that can be used instead of roots organic? as it not available for us, it has all these goody ingredients where other soils/composts don't have, Coco fiber, peat moss, perlite, pumice, premium worm castings, bat guano, kelp, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, feather meal, greensand, leonardite and alfalfa meal.

check out my journal in my signature, the first page you will see my soil recipe... this is my first grow with it, I transplanted about 4 days ago, yesterday I soaked them in the afternoon and this morning when I went and looked at them they were significantly bigger! I think the roots are just getting into the good stuff now! So far it looks good but it is my first time growing with this recipe!

more holes in your container means better drainage and oxygen circulation thru your rootball, also if roots come onto contact with a hole, they will be effectively air pruned.
i put an insane amount of holes in my 5 gallon buckets, and plants love it.
soon, i will phase out the standard buckets and have completely switched over to Smart Pots. they RULE.

For a high value crop they are worth it. They solve the number one problem with container growing - roots circling the inside of the pot. Search "Superroots Air Pot" on YouTube and watch the video for an explanation of how that works and why it's important. Also, every one of those holes is a drain hole which makes it very difficult to over water. And finally, those holes make sure the roots have plenty of oxygen. Cannabis roots need lots of oxygen according to Soma.

airpots are great but subcools soil dressing needs some altering based on your plants needs. I noticed his mix is super hot in N causing the soil to have a higher ph which my indicas dont really like

anyone know if I have to flush at the end of using Subcool soil mix?
Also, after mixing Sub's ingredients. I'm supposed to put in a trash can and leave it in the sun for 30 days. Can I leave it in my grow room and get the same effect. Getting really cold and wet outside.

#1 You don't flush soil. The nutrients are locked up and Cations will not wash away.
#2 The SuperSoil does not sit in the sun. SubCool used the word "bake" in his video or maybe the written tutorial and it has caused great confusion. You mix it, and let it rest with a lid on it. Better off in an area where it is warm, not cold. If it starts smelling like ammonia or funky, turn the SS to incorporate air.

whattup yo! I just want to mention that I am growing in 5.2 gal air pots with sub cools soil recipe/ altered and I am lovin it. I also use a compost tea or specific tea when needed. I usually give the girls a dose of vermi-tea weekly in the root zone and foilar spray. This is my third go round with the air pots and IMO these pots easier to clean and transplant up then the cloth smart pots, but I have to say the smart pots are good and are easier to water. I am also stepping up and getting the 8 gal this next round. thanks for reading and thanks sub for the recipe it changed the way I cultivate
