sub box mini grow- bagseed-12/12

this will be my second grow, i didnt document the first one and i only did one plant and it ended up bein a boy.

so far i have a small sub box from a surround sound system, i have 2 soft white bulbs inside for the vegging and have warm white on hand so i can switch in a week or 2....also used coke cans for the reflectors but only have one glued in..i will be doing a 12/12 from seed and some lst since its such a small space...

here are some pics of my setup, i used alluminum t-bar ceiling molding to make the bracket to hold my bulbs and soldered everything together, one fan from an xbox intercooler and one out of a ps2.....

i have 4 seeds germinated and in the soil already its only been a day and i can see seedlings starting to work their way thru the soil. the soil is scotts premium potting soil.

not sure on nutes yet......any suggestions...?.....cheap but good?.....

your light cycle should be 18/6 for veg not 12/12

There are soooo many things wrong with this & you'll run into problems. To start off with, coke cans are just like aluminum foil. You're going to create a heat tent & your plants are going to take the ass end of it. Even with a fan, aluminum foil / coke can will be shit. Just paint the inside white or put in a piece of white plastic.

Next, your lighting. You're using cfl's & when using cfl's, your plant will stretch. The box looks about 1 ft tall from the pic. You're going to run into problems.

Are you going to transplant? Those bags look about 4 inches deep. If that's the case, you'll be rootbound in no time. I'm doing a 1-L mt dew SoG & it's a complicated grow, and not for a first-time grower.

You should always do 18/6 until the seed roots, at least. I'm doing 12/12 from seed, but they had 18/6 - 24 on up until the time they rooted.

Did you mean you have an auto-flowering seed or that you were skipping the veg state? Auto-flowering would mean self-flowering & I hope you're not wasting an auto-flowering seed inside. Auto-flowering seeds will cause problems for years on the inside.

well ima take off the can i guess......i know the box is small thats why im skipping the veg state and doing some lst..............yes ima be transplanting as soon as they all sprout.....no im not wasting any autoflowering seeds theyre just some bagseed......im just trying to get one small grow in before i build a larger box for the summer when i get my own place......

lol, sorry if I sounded like I was ripping you a new one. When I first started growing with cfl's, I ran into all the same problems...Just trying to save ya disappointment Don't wait til summer, those things will stretch immediately ... I had 4/5 day window before they were crazyyyyyyyyy from seed. I just converted a fridge...Totally stealth...it's great...Will post pics up later on...I've been meaning to do it since this morning about 3am when I finished it haha, they're just 25.5 mb for like 10 pics & I even changed the setup around since the photos. It's night-time for another 3 hours & 12 minutes, but then I'll get some updated ones too

its all good......ive done other grows with clfs....i had one abyss plant and it streched and now its at my niehbors under his hps

and my last plant i did in a cardboard box with 8 cfls and it did perfect didnt stretch at all, got to a about 1 1/2 feet before it showed its balls....

these are just gonna be experiment plants.....ima be ordering some feminized seeds when i build a bigger cab......i would do it now but i live with my parents....

lol, 1 1/2 feet before showing sex is stretching .. I used to preflower mine at 2 inches & once they showed, flipped back to veg...little tricky if ya don't do it just right I have 5 now that I'm running straight through.. Skipping the veg state on SoG...It's gonna be fun

i vegged it till it was 1 1/2 feet then flowered it......i wish i would of known about preflowering...it would of saved alot of time.............

I'm just going to correct here:

CFL's do not cause stretching in plants. Light sources too far from plants cause stretching. I use CFLs and keep my plants low and are ANYTHING but stretched.

Way to go Mr. Obvious..That sounds vaguely familiar..Oh yeah, I said it.. Cfl's cause stretching when they are hung to high because they're penetration is not nearly that of an hps & the plant craves the light. We all know that it's the light source the plant craves & not the glass of the cfl bulb.

you're good..I'd pull it back to maybe 2 inches and then edge it in normally...That 's close enough to do some serious damage. Cfl's aren't that hot to the touch, but that's because it flows it's heat to the entire bulb, not just a ball.

my seedlings have all sprouted and theyre lookin really good.....

no stretching so far.....take a look any feed back is appreciated.....

Dont let anyone discourage you. I have the exact same grow going right now in a home theater subwoofer, except my seeds are from my first grow, which was in a 4ft standing freezer (Definately top stealth choice BTW for anyone who is curious..) These micro grows are awesome when you have no other option. Im using (3) 26watt cfls in 2700k. The plant is lst'd across the dirt, topped, and split back around the brim of its pot. Entering week 3 of flowering today. If you can grow and flower in that enclosure than imagine what you can do with a real set-up. Keep on and good luck!

it sucks that i gotta be stealth but hopefully that wont be the case in a few months.............

they're all doing really good.....no stretching so far......any comments or advice is welcome,.....when should i start nutes and what kind would be best, any suggestions?

also growing two other seedlings in gravel, water, and bamboo food.....just for fun, they're just chillin on my desk next to my computer under a desk lamp...
