Good day, fellow RIU'ers! My outdoor season here in beautiful sunny Mendocino County is in full effect so I had to start a thread to document my progress this year. Follow along with me and enjoy watching my plants blow up!
The Place - Im gowing in the back yard of my home in beautiful Northern California. This is a legal medical grow and it is (I think) my 6th year growing outdoor at this location. I say this every year, but THIS season is really shaping up to be my best grow ever lol.
The Plants - As far as plants/strains go, this year I had an enormous group to choose from. I kept a number of strains from last year going all year. That, along with the combined greenhouses/indoor rooms of all my friends, made for some pretty good choices. And even though I ALWAYS say I'm only going to run 2 or 3 strains, I ALWAYS end up doing like ten...and this year is no different! I currently have about 35 plants. Over the next few weeks, some of those will be given away and some will be culled. I always aim to have 20-25 plants, but I may end up with 25-30 this year. I have: Purple Kush, Maui, Sour Diesel, Purple Diesel, Skywalker OG, Querkle, Devilberry x JillyBean, and Purple Gorilla. The PK was given to me by a friend who grows it indoor, the Maui is a local legend and staple crop, Sour D I got at a local club, Purple D also from a dispensary, the Skywalker OG was gifted to me from a friend in Humboldt, the Querkle and DVB x JB I procured last year, and the Purp Gorilla was a gift from my neighbor.
The Plan - There are 17 plants in the ground and a number of extras in containers anywhere from 5-35 Gal. They are all in a pretty basic soil mix that I almost always use. It consists basically of a base of Fox Farms Happy Frog soil amended with trace minerals, blood meal, bone meal, perlite, composted manure, worm castings, and a mycohrrizae blend. I hope to pull ten or twelve pounds from the plants in the ground and another 4 or 5 from the plants in containers. While I do think those numbers are pretty modest and easily achievable, I'll try not to count my chickens before they hatch
Anyway, thats whats up with me this Summer. I'll be pretty busy growing my crop and also helping friends so I may not be able to update as regularly as I'd like, but ill do my best! If you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask! If my grow looks like shit, let me know what I can do better. If my grow looks badass, tell me...I can always use the kudos for motivation I am also going to try to put a few pictures of my friends's crops as I see fit (guys grow MONSTERS - my plants look like bonsais next to theirs lol). Well I'm off to grow some pot, have a great day RIU and keep on growin!
