Stressing BAD

This is his first time using rapid rooters and he is having a bad feeling on using these. First are these things suppose to be so wet, on the tray it says these plugs soak up just the right amount of water, but they just seem so dam wet, is it possible he can drown the seedling? Also, he feels that they are made of a real dense material and how are the seedlings every going to be able to move around in there and poke there head up? Are these really even good for starting seeds in? He has heard great things, but is really worrying at this point.

Thanks

I have not used them before, but here are some thoughts. "so wet" and "so dam wet" do not really tell us anything. Are they completely saturated? It's gonna be very hard for us to tell you if it's too wet without any real point of reference.

And yes, you can certainly drown your seedling, too much water and it won't get any air. As to the denseness of the material, seeds can grow through quite a lot, and people ceratinly seem to succeed just fine germinating seeds with them

Here is a thread for you to read that might give you some pointers https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/281878-germinate-seeds-rapid-rooters.html

I use rapid rooters. I keep the RR's moist, but not soaking/dripping wet. I put the seed in the ready made hole. It usually pops up in three days, sometimes longer.

If he's worried about using RR's to start, then try doing one or two seeds and then he'll see how it comes out.

Like the plug is not dripping wet, though it is really close. It sucks up the water at the bottom of the tray, and gets to the point of just being soaked. Though, General Hydroponics says they are made to have the perfect to air/water ratio. Like I said he has never used them before and he has three trays full of these and worrying his ass off. Also, thanks for the thread, I was reading it before I posted this and it gave him some peace of mind, but doesn't really talk about the issues he is having. He would love to here from someone that has used these before in the tray, that has the water at the bottom.

Well to start with i don't for a second think that "he" is not you, if it were such a problem he'd be asking himself ;)

And if GH say that this is how it works, and you've no prior experience, then stop stressing, shove the seeds and and see for yourself if this is how it works or wheether it is marketing bullshit. For the future, if you've no idea what you're doing, best to do a trial run before doing 3 whole trays worth.

By any chance are you using the tray? Like his plugs are not dripping wet, they they seem real wet and he can't really describe it. Actually, it seems like a soaked sponge. Like before he put the plugs in the tray he squeezed them a bit to make them the way you would a Jiffy Pellet. Though, once he put them in the tray. They soaked up all the water again.

Thanks bud

The trial was planned, but the mail service made him wait an extra month and he really had no choice =(

Of course he had choice :) He was either impatient or he is growing to sell to cover a debt, which would as such give him no choice.

I don't want to be a jackass, if that's how i sound, oh well, but i've not much interest in talking to a middleman tbh. Tell him to come on here himself and discuss his issues.

Can't vouch for seedlings, but RR are awesome for clones.

Be pretty damn hard to drown something in RR's - you can use them in an E&F table with a once-per-hour flood.

I was actually thinking that they might just be better for clones than seedlings. Also, if you wouldn't mind, what is a E&F table?
