Strange smell during curing...

Just started curing my harvest a few days ago. They are in 1gal jars with appropriately sized boveda packs.

While burping, I noticed that one of them smells sickeningly sweet and buttery. Kinda like those crappy cookies in the metal tin that come around during the holidays or sugar cookie dough. I don't detect any mold stench or anything alarming. It's not yeasty as far as I can tell. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

Well ...how long did you hang em up for?what were your Temps and humidity?

Hung for 8 days. 68°F, 50% RH, inline fan providing fresh air, wet trimmed. Stems snapped but did not completely detach. My drying process was pretty by the book I believe.

Do you happen to have a hydrometer in the jars with your buds?
When I was first researching curing, seems like I can remember that they recommended using quart jars (not gallon), really not sure of the reasoning behind that. You may consider Googling that.

Yea, unfortunately mason jars this time of year are impossible to find and more than double the normal online price. From my understanding, gallon jars just take longer to cure. And it was also easier than having 30-1qt jars lol

Agreed, you couldn't even find the lids for a while.
Something about the CoVid thing.
First toilet paper, then mason jar lids. Makes perfect sense!

Lol.buddy obviously you are the pro here so ill just let you figure this one out on ya on.14 days dude.thats how long they are supposed to hang.good luck.
