Strains that surprised you

Ever grow a plant that you didn't think would be much but turned out to be pretty darn good smoke? Can't say I have yet because most of what I have grown has had some reviews on the net. I hope I can say this about the Rokerij Bubbles and Silver Shiva I have growing right now.

So what about you?

I had a hard time growing my C99 recently due to a bad case of spider mites. However, while I'm sure the yield suffered for the mites, the herb I *did* get came out incredibly good. I would definitely grow it again knowing what I know now about it.

Odd...but that is not the first time I've seen "spider mites" and "C99" together. I know I've seen others talk about it, and it is the only plant I've grown so far that had them (though not bad). C99 must have something that attracts spider mites.

C99 is a sativa dominant and typically has a lighter tint to it, bugs are attracted to yellowing leaves which makes her the likely target in a sea of green.

It is not a strain, but the biggest surprise I've had were a bunch of freebies I got from Seed Boutique many years ago..(about 10 or so).
These were called Who's your Daddy. These were a mash-up of a bunch of different genes. Great variety of phenos...I LOVED most of them.
Due to unfortunate circumstances I lost these genetics...coulda shoulda woulda....rats. :leaf:

Here is one of my favorites from these WYDs

This turned out to be my fav strain as well, love the racy sativas plus the short flower time is added bonus.

However, I too experienced the mite problem. I also found a great solution, organic dish soap...mixed with water in a spray bottle cuts off their ability to breath. I've actually found dead mites covered in resin when checking trichomes a month later. It also cuts off your plants ability to absorb co2...and therefore requires thorough rinsing.

I still have that one, got it in March 2012 through 'Tude. Might have to give it a whirl!

Freebee Royal Queen Special Queen #1. Orange/Purple trich'd out buds. Pungent fruitiness taste and smell. While I don't know too much about the genetics or the company as a whole, I may have to pick up a pack in the future for a 2nd run.

Bubbles is pretty wank.
Ive done a few rokerij and my fav was lemon skunk.
Well sampled the bubbles after 4 days dry and 2 week cure. Tastes like ass, not harsh, just funky. Got me stoned, but nothing really interesting. I could not think very well for about an hour, and three hours later I want to take a nap. Too early! So this one is definitely the one to have when watching TV right before bed.

Not the worst I've grown, but won't be among my favorites. I won't be popping any of the other seeds until I run out of indicas to grow.
