Strains for Anxiety with mid level THC content?

Let me just start out by saying, I don't live in a place that allows medical marijuana use. But from my experience with recreational use over the year, I have noticed some strains are definitely helpful for my anxiety. Being illegal, I can't just go to a dispensary and pick a strain that would be good for anxiety, say am Indica. I have to deal with shady dealers and what not, and never know what Im buying. Dealers here sell "weed", they don't sell OG Kush, Blue Dream etc, so I have no idea what I'm getting. Sometimes I get something that exacerbates the anxiety. This has led me down the growing route. But I'm finding it hard to find something exactly what I want.

For starters, some strains say directly in the strain description that they are good for anxiety, but then after reading grow and smoke reports, I find conflicting information.

One criteria that is a must is a Mid Level THC content. Something around the ~13% mark. The reason being is I just don't like being too stoned. I mean, I medicate to help with anxiety, so often smoke before going out, so I don't want to be a zombie. And reason two, I like to smoke a lot in the evenings etc. As in, I like the actual act of smoking...smell, taste, the "hit", so smoke more than would be necessary for a high THC strain and get smashed.

So Im looking to hear from people who have personal experience. What strains, that I can easily buy from Attitude or Herbies, would you recommend that fit my bill and are great for anxiety.

Ive grown it a few times because a buddy of mine wanted to get off his Klonopin and it worked for him.

Doesnt get you too high and calms you down alot. Tastes good and was so smooth it didnt make me cough. I dont cough often though.

Do you have any growing exp?

Cool, I'll go check out the Strawberry Cough.

And yea, plenty of experience growing indoors on a small scale (400w HPS). Stepping it up somewhat to a 1000w HPS very soon.

Check out subcools plush berry there's a pheno that I kept just for anxiety purposes. She was real mild but was just a nice evening smoke. Broke the stress of the day type stuff.

Sour kush aka Headband from DNA Genetics, my favorite strain you cannot go wrong with this one kills anxiety like no other strain I have smoked not to overpowering, I drink a lot of Hennessy and this strain helped me regulate my drinking to only weekends. Got a xanax addiction this will help you kick for sure!

Nice! id go SOG with the strawberry cough and try to top her.

one of mine was the stretchy bitch ever. entered flower barely 1' 6" finished flower almost 5' haha

But a SOG with minimal veg time would probably be good. The top foot was pretty solid bud so if you could just grow that and avoid the many far away lower branches it can really be a nice yielder.

Cheers everyone. Lots of good stuff for me to check out so far. Keep it coming...

Unfortunately, SOG is probablh out of the question for me. Although I wont be legal, so dont have a plant limit, I have looked into the local laws and conclided that i have a 10 plant limit. Any more than that and it becomes automatic trafficing. I dont plan on getting caught, but need to give it some consideration. anyways, I plan on running 9 plants (3x3) in a 4x4 tent with the 1000w HPS, with a shortish veg period...but I guess thatll depend on the strain.

haha thats similar to how i run my SOG

SOG doesnt always have to be 20+ plants with no veg.

I do it but with 8-12 with about a month of veg.

Not very SOG but it makes a sea that is certainly green.

Yea, I was always under the impression that SOG was 1 plant per square foot...at least, with no veg time at all. Straight from clone to flower forming mostly single cola plants. I personally will stick with this definition. So if I were to go SOG I'd have 16 plants...too many. Even with 9, yea, Ill be taking up all the room Ive got to work with, making a sea of green I guess, but with upto a month of veg I dont think it qualifies as SOG, in my opinion. You can call it whatever you like, its all good, but personally I like a more specific definition which actually means something, rather than calling it sea of green whenever you make maximum use of space. But each to their own...I mean it is onlya label after all.

Anyways, thanks again. Some decent suggestions here. Im looking forward to growing one or mor out.

a fellow sufferrer here, one thing i have found
most strains/plants can be brought to a state where they lower anxiety
just have to ripen them long enough, which can be a long time for some

I grew the plushberry. Got a couple hermies unfortunately. But, a friend of mine thought my #2 pheno felt "euphoric"
I cant imagine it would be a negative for anxiety

Dr Greenthumbs Bubba Kush. Best tasting smoke Ive ever tried and a nice mellow laid back stone. Clone that bitch you will keep it for years. Now somebody start whining about his prices.

Ok, I'll bite - $100 per feminized seed. That IS expensive, roughly ten times the price of most of the seeds I've bought over the last few years (Ketama, Hawaiian Snow, Super Lemon Haze, Acapulco Gold, Maui Waui, Afghan Kush, AK-47, White Widow, Spoetnik #1, Original Amnesia, maybe a couple others). Is it worth ten times any of those?

I've read a bunch of smoke reports on it and most say it's fairly awesome. A hundred bucks a bean, though... How much would it suck if you bought one and it didn't crack?

If it doesnt pop, save it, call the Doc and he will replace it. A hundred bucks has different value to different people. I throw $100 away on dinner and shit it out the next day so spending $100 on something that gives me years of enjoyment is a no brainer.

Most strains from Nirvana aren't high THC and are good relaxing smokes, but I think what you want to do is avoid letting the plants stay too long in flowering. CBN at least I've found, increases anxiety and bad feelings. Harvesting early or on time always leads to a good smoke for me.
