Steve Jobs

What did you think of him? Now let's bear in mind some people will love, some will hate so let's not kill each other over this, I just want to know how you all feel about him dying.

Personally I believe he was a greedy bastard who didn't care about his workers anymore than his consumers.

The guy stood by and profited as Apple hired child labourers who worked in unsafe conditions for next to no monry, something which only increased in recent years.

He and his company charged inordinate amounts of money on top of competitor's prices for products that had the same functionality and for the most part remarkably similar technology but with constant new reliability issues and a lack of product testing and quality assurance before release, all the while constantly tweaking and rebranding products every few months to grab an extra fist full of cash from out of the pockets of hard-working people.

All the while under his control they tried to file lawsuits on pretty much EVERY company, most of which failed because they were baseless attempts to hinder competing companies while ensuring their own wealth, yet had the cheek to infringe on S3 patents and with the amount of cases against them probably more.

I don't believe in the Abrahamic heaven/hell theory but I don't think there's a good place waiting for him

Just another moron who started his own business. Apple will get along just fine without him, he's useless.

you are wrong.

i am an apple hater. but steve jobs had the golden touch.

he was ousted from apple and the company almost went out of business.

he bought pixar when it was struggling, sold it for 7 billion.

he went back to apple and led the company to become a leader in the telecommunications and music distribution industry. keep in mind this was a personal computer company. he left with apple being the most valuable company in the world.

steve jobs had a 1 dollar annual salary while CEO of apple.
It ain't about the salary, he got all sorts, hundreds of thousands for planes, 5.5million stocks etc. etc. etc. People act like his only benefit was his salary but in reality there was a lot more in it for him, with that much stock he just had to keep money IN the company, and keep sales going up and he had more money than a salary could ever give for a CEO

At the end of the day taking $1 (which is very easy to do when you're already very rich) was a nice little hook to bring consumers saying "Oh wow, what an honest nice guy, he's clearly not profiting from this at all" in the same way his handwritten letters were a way to get people in with the "Oh what a personal touch, he really cares about us"

Open: 373.33High: 384.78Low: 371.80

Extrapolate that to show 5.5 mil stock and you'll see why Steve Jobs didn't give a shit about taking a salary

the majority of steve jobs' fortune came from his sale of pixar to disney a few years back.

his stake in apple was reduced considerably the first time he was chased out of there.

He sold some of the stock too early, yes, but retained enough to make himself a billionaire off of their questionable practices. On a serious note though, I'm really just trying to figure out WHY the world seems so upset that he's gone. To me it seems like he's a man who just found it so much easier and cheaper to let people, mainly third world children, suffer that he didn't really even try to make changes to benefit them. Since he came back to apple all that happened was that their business ethics seemed to take a massive tumble to me.

The more I dig the less I like this guy. He allegedly fiddled with stock prices on his stock options, was investigated for tax evasion to the tune of $20,000,000 and it "just so happened" that he had no idea any of this was going on and that the guys around him were just doing it for him as a suprise to be nice.
