Sterilite Storage Bin Stealth Grow, first time grower.

I've read somewhere that 20/4 is the best vegging light schedule. But I haven't heard of many people using it that I have talked to. Usually hear 18/6 or 24/0 when it comes to vegging. But as far as growing better what it means is that when lights are off, that food that it was using to grow bigger above the soil is being used to grow the roots instead. 18/6 is ideal for a strong root system but keep in mind that for about every month that it is alive, you will end up needing a gallon of space to allow for roots to continue to grow without getting rootbound. But we are growing indoors as well as growing small time so that isn't really an issue for us and we can afford a little bit of rootbounding pref near finishing. How long did you plan on vegging before going to 12/12?

I think maybe 2 months, depending, i have a 2 gallon and 1 gallon pot im going to use for a few reasons.

1. Im limited on space since its a sterilite grow.
2. Its bagseed so im not sure if its a sativa or indica (hoping for indica)

You are correct on the roots growing better at night, but the roots and top system grow evenly, the top wont outgrow the roots because then the plant wont be able to support the giant top. So im going to do the switch tonight so i can get this thing going.

After my first full successful grow I plan on switching to a cabinet i bought at my local big box store. It was normaly 200 but summer sale had it at $130.00. Specs are 31 1/4"W x 19 3/4"D x 73 7/8"H.

Thanks for the required reading, im going to be switching to 18/6 tonight since ive had a good day of growth.

Flaming tould me to keep it on 24/0 but this guide is saying it build itself better at night. Gonna roll 3 am- 9 am lights off, 9 am - 3 am lights on.

Heres some pics of the twin that i just popped today, so far 2/2 popped with the paper towel method inside of my humidity dome.

My first girl is lookin better, he leaves spread out more today once i got her medium under control, shes also loosing the yellow on the edge of the cotyledon leaf, slowly. So now I feel more comfortable going 18/6, should start to see wayyyyyy more growth.

See we told you it would be alright. =)

18/6 is fine. Try to line the 6 hours of darkness with the hottest part of the day. Usually 12am - 6pm. If you don't have a tent or grow box, feel free to put the darkness from 10pm-4am in a closed room/closet. Extra light will not hurt the plant during vegetative cycle. When your plant reaches maturity is when you need to worry about extra light.

Umm if you ae willing to spend $130 dollars why not get a real grow tent?

I really want to switch to a cab right now, too many issues micro managing a micro grow. You may get a mix of sativa and indica. I had 3 plants till I had to go to bigger pots and had to sacrifice one. I wish I kept that one but it was the smallest of the 3 so I naturally tossed it but it had the thin leaves like a sativa. It could have been great. The ones I am growing now were always bigger since seed but my bet is its a mix. We just won't know till the end.

You may change your mind about 2 months depending on how vigorous they grow. Keep in mind that it will grow 2 maybe even 3 times its initial size.

I wish I had bought a grow tent. My whole set up as is, not including lights, was 120 dollars. Shit adds up.

I have alway heard that a gallon of soil= 1 foot of vertical growth.. aproximately. SOoooo, If you have 2 gallon of soil, the plant will be at least 2 ft tall from top of soil to top of plant.

It does add up, my thing is stealth, you see a grow tent inside and u know what it is. If you see a cabinet for storage, you dont assume people are growing stuff in it.

I am not even going to say how much my whole thing was but I will say that it set me back 2 paychecks. Really glad I have a decent paying job. I am only using like I think 1.5 or 2 quarts. Something like that so you can see I am aiming to keep it small. I think I've found my calling, I just want to grow.

Yeah as long as they don't check to see why you have all the wires coming out of it and the buzzing of fans inside.

All the wires are going to be wired to coming out the back and I have it placed in a corner. Ive even found a way to add a carbon filter scrubber in stealth. It should be good, but the perilite crates were my original idea so thats what im gonna stick with for the first grow.

Sounds good, yeah I am sticking with my PC grow as much as I wanna go bigger. I think its still a decent size. I still have them sitting a book to be closer to light so I still have some space for them to grow plus the LST. Really excited to switch to 12/12.

Ajaxx, if you are living by yourself, it shouldn't matter what the grow area looks like. as long as you can put it away in a spare room noone goes in or a closet that noone but you will open. =)

Stealth is something ive always wanted though, easily controlled and micro. Controlling things in a smaller space was the idea from the start so im gonna stick with it.

Second seed i germed popped, put it in a watered rapid rooter and in to the humidity dome, placed it taproot down with the seed up, hope to see her pop her head up after today! Pics of my girl when i wake up, shes got another 2 hours of darkness then the lights come back on. Sleeps.

Just wanted to say that giving seedlings nutes doesn't burn them when you do it right....I have done it every time my seedlings showed yellowing at the edges and have NEVER burned them. Yellowing means deficiency! Any nute guide will tell you that. There are actually many nute feeding charts that instruct you to give low strength nutes as soon as the first leaves appear. I'm not try to be negative or a Know-it-all or anything like that! But I was scared to give nutes to my plants because everyone said it was a big no no...and my girls grew very very slowly. I finally caved in and gave them a very low strength diluted mix, and they finally took off how they were supposed to. You're not supposed to give nutes if your medium already has them, but if it is devoid of nutes, the baby has to get food from somewhere .

Here is PROOF that giving a seedling nutes is pretty much necessary for many plants when your medium doesn't have any...

This is a few days later.....usually my seedlings are much bigger in just a few days, the 1st leaves get really long and start to take up the pot, but the blueberry (left) is still the same size. On the right, the skunk has yellow baby leaves and is stunted like the blueberry.





This is a week later....the skunk is working on it's second set of leaves and is still very small:





The Blueberry too is growing....VERY slowly, and the yellowing slowly working it's way throughout the plant:

Horrible growth! Let me show you what one of my healthy plants looks like (that I ferted from day 2) at day 14:





I finally caved in and gave the Blueberry nutes after everyone told me not to, and this is 4 days later:









Just wanted to show you that's it's not always true that you should not fert seedlings! If you don't have N in your medium, then your babies have nothing to feed them...some girls come out hungry. Low strength nutes (especially organic nutes) will not burn them! No offense to anyone...but I'm not just repeating information I heard, as you can see, I have found out for myself! I now fert every seedling after a couple days and I have 11 healthy plants with NO signs of burning.

Yup...I do it every other watering.

His issue was not from a deficiency.

Yeah it wasnt a deficiency cuz the yellowing is now gone. Switched the light cycle last night, no noticeable growth on top but im hoping she spread her roots some during the darkness. Im gonna test the nute theory out on this new seedling ive got growing up just to see the difference. These are all bagseed btw, my learning seed Cant wait to pop one of my G13 labs Cheese or Nirvana Bubblicious.
