Stem Problem " drying out"

Try giving water (lots) daily, or every other day at worst. I noticed earlier that this plant looks very strange. That is, the stem appears to be thick as a baseball bat, but the leaves are itty bitty, in comparison. I'd expect elephant ear size leaves :bigjoint: with a telephone pole like that for a stem :hump:

Good luck :peace:

Are u saying whatever is doing this is taking out whole branches? Dam that looks like it rotting from the inside .. has to be some type of mite!

mari, do you have a microscope? If the stem looks like its covered in rust (you can scrape it a bit with your finger nail) and its dying from the bottom up...then its rust mites, you can see them in 60x zoom, they look like transparent whales with legs. please confirm because if this is rust mites your whole grow is fucked, and every vegetable or tropical plants you have around too

Mari, watering most likely won't help whatever that shit is :fire: If it's rust mites, your screwed  But, if it is, I am amazed your not seeing at least some leaf damage too. So maybe it's something else...something treatable :-)

Good luck :peace:

It isn't killing the whole plant at once? I've never seen anything like that. I'd say get very serious with Azamax or the like. Safer's soap too. This is all out war. Don't procrastinate!

It looks like the 'wood' inside the stem is discolored as well. I'm really baffled by this. Is the stem hollow? Are there any critters inside?

According to "Hemp Diseases and Pests", the Russet or 'Rust' mite would do considerable damage to the leaves. I'm beginning to think it might be some sort of stem borer or bark eater. A rat or mouse might firle a large stem, but would deo it near the ground. How about providing the best pix possible. Close ups and detail are needed.
