I've always used "WELL WATER" right out of the faucet, and it works just great. I have a friend who uses city water straight from the faucet and it works well, too. In my humble opinion, and I have spoken to growers who agreed and said the same thing, that allowing the water to "sit" for a while, encouraged algae growth.

The PH of my water right out of the faucet here is about 6.5, which considering, that's not horrible at all. 1-2 drops of PH down and it smacks me at 5.5 every day. I've got it down to a science.

1 gallon = x amount of PH down.

WOOT! WOOT! :hump:

I scored a 1000w digital switchable hps/mh complete setup. Lightly used. With a brand new hps bulb and MH bulb. Air coolable hood with glass. This guy traded me out for some "stuff".

damn that thing is bright as hell. i got a high powered fan in there to keep heat down, didnt get too hot in there, but im gonna have to get an inline fan of some sort...

The girls love it.

Ill get pics up soon.

im thinking about getting one but are the duel spectrum 2 good for the job if your goin sog????
A buddy of mine uses the dual specs. If you're tight on space, but not as tight on space as I am they're really awesome. His shit's tasty.

Swapping MH and HPS is always going to be better from everything that anyone has ever told me and that I have read.. but come on.. Who's got THAT kind of money?

Hey guys, this is a great thread. I just read through the whole thing...lol.. I'm on my first grow right now with a homemade deep water system. But I think I'm gonna switch to a bigger reservior. I'm right now in a two gallon plastic tub with two plants growing, and thier roots have tangled with eachother...( I know, not good, any advice would be appreciated)...along with an airstone, so pretty much similar to a bubbletronics.

I have a growtent with two 150w hps and two 24w=100w cfls to get the undersides. Both my plants are at three weeks so thats why i got so drawn to this thread, they are lookin pretty good with thick bushyass roots and bushy branches, both are lowryder.

Sorry about the long post, but my question to you guys about your water is that I have been buying distelled every time, but with me upgrading to a bigger tank, ill get sick and tired of buying so much bottled water jugs.

Do you guys just use your facets to fill a bucket up, ph balance it, then pour it immediatly in to the plants bucket? And what is your PPM to your water? I heard water over like 200 ppl shouldnt be used and thats usually TAP water. WOuld you think filtered tap water could be fine?

Plus where is a good place to get a good airpump and big airstone, you guys are using a 12 stone right?

Again sorry for the long post, but I was so close to getting an Stealth hydo set, and this thread just answerd my question...plus hook em

The way the bubbleponis works when you hav eseedlings with no roots yet is you have a water pump pumping water from the resevoir into the pots. so the level of water doesn't matter. You just need water constantly dripping on them til the roots drop. Then once you have roots in the resevoir you can take the pump out and I usaully fill it so the roots are just barley touching the water ( when there young roots). Then once you get a whole mess of roots I fill the resevoir like 40% with water cuz the roots need air. Your bubble stones are constanyl delivering oxygen to the roots that arent in the water. Hope that answers your question. hehe.

:peace: and happy growing.

Welcome to the grow.
As far as tap water goes, I have used tap water my entire grow and just recently switched out to reverse osmosis water. BUT I think tap is fine. My tap is from a lake and the PPM is pretty low, the pH is like 7.0 though so I use pH down.
I've heard if you let the water sit 24 hours is good cuz all the stuff sinks to the bottom. But I also heard water that has been sitting is more likely to form algae.

Its your call, Ill probably go back to using tap, so much more convienent.

You can buy an airstone, pumps, tubing etc...at any pet store that carries fish aquarium stuff...Or you can find them on the net. I believe longhorn fan has a good online source for that stuff, he might chime in here and post the URL for yuh.... hope that helps.

In my humble opinion, I think the roots are going to get tanagled regardless of the size of the tank, and that it is OK for them to get tangled. And, I prefer the 5 gallon buckets from Walmart or any hardware store. If you get a BIG tank, it is more work draining and replinishing the water.
Water? You can use any clean water, even city clorinated water. IF YOU HAVE CLORINATED WATER, As the water runs from the faucet, LET IT RUN OVER YOUR HAND AND THE CLORINE WILL DISAPATE AWAY. Or let it sit an hour.
Airpump and Stone? Go to Walmart.

i was always told to let water sit 24 hours before the chlorine dissipated. i try and do that for my babies but doesn't always happen, anyways i water all my other plants with water straight from the faucet and they don't seem to mind, so i don't think it's a big deal

I never let my water sit. I fill up my water jugs, throw in my nutes, and pour straight in to the buckets. 5 gal buckets are awesome for plants. I have had awesome success...Unless you count the ones that I thought had balls, they werent balls...they were new growth..oh well, lesson learned.

I have 4ft flexible airstones in my buckets...they are absolutely amazing. I will never buy a Walmart airstone again as long as I am in this hobby. Email me for the web site addy..

Well, I gave away my girls cuz I have the 1000w HPS running just to flower 2 runts...pointless i thought. So, I put in the 1000w MH bulb and started vegging my clones...

Check 'em out.

I got a question if someone can answer...I have the 1000w MH about 3 and a half feet from the plants...Is that close enough? Heat has been an issue. I got a vortex 400 inline fan vented up to the light hood. got the temps between 75-85 at night and 85-95 in the day (when its hot outside).

anyways check the pic out. is that close enough??? I think its ok...

Look at those finger leaves...wow. To judge the heat, put your hand right on top of the plant, if your hand does not get hot within 1 minute, your are good. right now, my light is about 6 inches above my plants and doing great, no heat issues. however, I had it lower and burned a few leaves..so just test it

Lookin good Green.

I'm still trying to get the hang of everything. My babies are growth-stunted. UNLIKE EVERY OTHER N00B.. I wasn't giving them ENOUGH nutes... Go fucking figure, now my luck I'll probably give them too much.
