stealth hydro...2nd grow...spectrum differences

so its my second time growing and second time using this system. germinated them this past friday 10/24. today 10/28 the first seed came through the rockwool... hopefully the other 6 will push through by the end of the day/ tomorrow...

this time im starting them with only the low spectrum light for the first week or so, then i am going to turn on the high spectrum bulb as well

i am running the lights 20 on 4 off...last time i grew i did 24 on...so im lookin to see if there is a lil difference by givin them some dark time.

i thought of turnin the high spectrum on and off every week or so while the plant is in the vegetative state....any thoughts??

after reading around i decided to leave the lights on 24/7... plus im broke..and dont have time to experiment...

my last week of veg im going to use only the low spectrum light...before i switch to 12/12...

and the last week of flowering im going to use only the high spectrum bulb...

i added some pics so u guys can see how the grow is going...i currently have 7 ladies growing right now in the system...

I am no pro but the leaves look like a sign of overwatering atm. but after some root growth i may go away

Hey banesbong, I was told by SH that those water feed tubes should on the bottom of rock wool cubes not on the top soaking them like that.

I asked specifcially the SH folks and they said it was important to get the water feed tube to but up against the bottom of the rock wool cube in the net pot.


Just notice you pics and thought I would pass this info along.

I have, and love this system and have built a few extras to hold my mother plants and so on. One thing I changed however is I got rid of the water pump and irrigation altogether. I still use a airstone and air pump but I found the water irrigation system a bit of a pain in the ass especially if I had males I had to take out. Also I couldn't keep roots out of the pump. So now I just manually water my rockwool cubes, just once a day, until the roots poke out of the cup and then I don't have to worry about it anymore. Makes for moving plants around and dealing with males a lot easier and I haven't had any problems and they grow just as well. Happy growing

bullethead...thanks for the tip...i moved the water feed tubes down closer to the bottom of the rockwool...couldnt exactly get them perfect because i didnt want to damage the roots....

i was wondering if any problems would be caused by switching them to 18/6 a week or so before i go 12/12

any thoughts...

i have this exact system. my question is how often do you feed the roots each day or do you run them continuously 24/7 i dont know how often to water the roots with bubbleponics help!

this system is made to get oxygen to the roots so there is no over watering of plants...

As far as switching to lower light schedule I would stay 24/0 if it were me. It takes less time and because of that will use less power consumption. Its not going to hurt or effect your plants if you change, they will just grow slower and use stored up energy when there in the dark which some growers say is better. I have always used 24/0 schedule for vegging....

I notice this yur secod time around using this system. Are still using the SH nuts? I recently just tried well just recieb=ved the high feed kit SH offers for growers using HID lighting. I was thiking due to power consumption about getting the light system that comes with the kit like yours.

How did your first round turn out if I may be nosy for just a second here. DId those lights do the trick, were they strong enough to provide fast growth?

britownusa - like banesbong said, the pump will pump water through those six tubes up to each net cup therefore constantly trickling water down to the root zone of the plants. So just make sure you got the pump and ESPECIALLY the airstones air pump running 24/7. Weather lights are on or not....

thanks for the insight on the 24/0 18/6...in my last grow i did the 24/0 so i was just looking to see if there is a recommended difference....

im still using the SH nutes they seemed to work well in my first grow...

my first grow i had only one plant turn out to be a female... i think wen i grew it i had the lights a lil too high and therefore stretched the plant a lil to much...i have a few pics of it that i will post... also like this grow i just used random bagseeds so it could have been the seeds or my lack of experience....i never weighed out the bud (why im still not sure to this day) i would say it was about a half oz.....the smoke was one of the freshest ive had...wasnt the highest..but it was a good body numb vs. a head high....

the grow room in this grow was a lot more ghetto then it is now... it was simply a nook in my room that i put a blanket over... just kinda did it to see what i could do and what would happen...

sexyy leaves look a little heavy for the width of the stems at this stage . im sure they will be fine though hope you have a good yield

This was the first grow correct? Not bad at all for first time dude even it was just one plant! That ROCKS for first time. Most fail miserbly first time out.

Were you using the SH light kit on this first grow and if so which ones if you dont mind specifying. IM having trouble with my HID lights with heat and not enough space and thinking of getting a light kit from SH and wondering if will be enough.

About how long did it take you to veg and flower using the SH duel spectrum lights I think they are called? ANd what about those new CFL kit they have now for 199 I think it is? Wonder if thats worth the extra money. I dont I need HID in the small space I have and Im not planning on growing 6 plants at once possibly depending on how big I can get them with the little space I have.

yea...that was from my first grow... the lights were the dual spectrum II....they were the biggest one they had at the time..havent been on their site in a while so im not sure if they got anything new....

i dont member the cycles exactly...i veg'd for about 4-6 wks if i member correctly...and the flowering was upwards of 8-10 i think...i remember taking longer then i expect to flower...

the lights worked fine..not sure if i could have gotten a bigger yield if i had stronger lights.... im going to use this grow as more of a basis of that wether or not to upgrade lights for the flowering cycle or simply just add more....

how much odor do 6 plants emanate? is it strong? what is recommended to kill the odor of 4 plants?
