Cfls or fluorescent tubes work well for vegging (6500k) or a mix of 6500k and 2700k...cheapest alternative to hid

well basically id just get a couple cfls . Try to get the most lumens out of the bulbs as you can you need at least 3000 per sq. ft. You can flower under cfls but i recommend saving up for a HPS or MH...just use the cfls to grow them while you wait.

for 8 plants to veg for a mounth you would need at least 4( id recommend more) cfls with reflectors. (there's a home made method on the FAQ board) For the grow area, make sure the walls are white. add 2 fans to circulate air and leave a cup of water open to control humility if its to dry. BE SURE TO GET THE "cool blue" COLORED CFLS. THEY ARE MORE EFFECTIVE FOR VEGGING.

personally, I'd get the cfl's in the blue range, which dude above stated, is good for vegging. then when your ready, let the sun work it's magic
