Starting Outdoor Grow- input needed

My friend and I found a spot way out in the woods about 20 feet from a creek with decent light and cover. Just started clearing out the leaves and digging holes for the plants. We plan on growing WW, Purple Haze, OG Kush, and Super Silver Haze. My question is, how hard would it be to rig an irrigation system using the creek with a car battery, 12v DC water pump, and solar trickle charger? Last season we were hiking in water for one plant and it wound up being more work than we anticipated. We had very good results using store bought potting soils, thinking about adding in some composted cow manure(store bought) this year, how well does it work for the plants? This is a new site, as I mentioned last season we had one plant, loaded with bud, 1-2 weeks away from cropping out and my growing buddy's crack head brother found our plant... absolutely devastating when 6 months of hard work and time goes to shit... Needless to say this season we have a new site, totally remote, half mile into the woods, very hard to find.

A few tricks I used while growing Outdoors...

Bury a few buckets, bottles, Jugs close by to catch rainwater.

Use a Camo colored Tarp to catch and funnel the water into a bucket or similar.

Add plenty of Organic matter into the soil to hold the water better.

Place large stones or Mulch on top of the soil around the plant to limit water loss from Evaporation.

Dig a large hole nearby and line with the tarp to make a large reservoir.
~~

Other Ideas...
Cut a hole in the center of a tarp and place on top of the grow site (plants in the holes) then slope the tarp toward the plants and bury it under the mulch or stake it down. This could catch the water and make sure it channels to the roots. It also serves as a barrier to prevent evaporation loss.

The pump Idea could work, but you would have issues depending on the creek...
Noise
People tend to congregate around water. Maybe someone around the creek sees your setup and investigates? leading them directly to your grow...

Just some Ideas...

I thought about the issues with noise only because I was thinking about putting a timer into the equation for the water pump, wouldn't want it kicking on in the rare chance someone was walking near the site. Not many people go back there, it's pretty dense forest with big thorny vines everywhere and the nearest house is probably a mile off, this is all out in the country... When my friend and I initially found the spot, we went back home to get some tools and spent 5-10 minutes trying to find the spot again when we returned! I'm going to post up some pics when we get this all up and running this season. I can't wait for it to warm up!

id say if the creek is really only 20 feet away you should skip the pump

although it wouldnt be hard to set up a simple 12v pump system

just gotta make sure its all hidden very well

im assuming this is a little trickling through the woods creek, and not anything that could be canoed down

Yeah, this creek is about 2 feet wide, maybe 3 in the widest part. We ran water last year with 2 liters and a pump sprayer because we weren't anywhere near the creek. Now that our original site is compromised we had to move to this new location. The first thing we did was dig a small trench away from the creek to channel water closer to the grow site and then just decided we might try running water out of it with a pump instead of filling 2 liter bottles again. Either way it feels really good having an endless water supply right there...

Is the grow way uphill from the creek? If not, the the ground may stay moist to limit watering. Or dig the trench like you said and make a moat around your grow to keep the ground moist...

Yeah there's an embankment to the creek I'd say maybe a 4 foot height drop from the grow site down to the water. We'll be growing on a slight hill. You're right about hauling water for excercise as I mentioned earlier just for one plant it was a lot of work! Hiking in all of that water... So glad to be near a creek this season. We're still back and forth about the irrigation system, we may just use 5 gallon buckets or milk jugs and save us the expense of buying a water pump system.

thanks but no danks

my advice, once you find a location, finding a location is just as important as scouting out there area around it

i cant tell you how many times this year i found a great location that i thought was completely untouched only to find a deer stand or a small trail a few hundred yards from them, so make sure you look around, it can help in the long run, better now than when its too late
