Starting from seed this time, can i use my hps or do i have to use clf's first?

My 2nd grow under lights, Im growing some badseed that ive germanated and wanted to know if i can start them off on my 250 watt hps or if i need to veg them with CLF's frist, i have previously used clf's which worked good but that was on a clone.

So my question is can i jump right into using a hps from the start (with reasonable distance obviously) or should i grab a few more CLF's?

I'd use the CFLs you can use the HPs but its just a wait pretty much

I know what everyone says - be careful - don't put your seedlings under too much light. but here is a pic of freshly germinated and planted seed under 1000w (600w HPS/400w MH) 24 x7 and then a pic of them 30 days later (yes one died but i don't blame the light - never rooted correctly)....

how far away did you have the lights from as seedlings? As well as with the cups on top of them?

I left the cups on them until i saw green poking up. I put them on there to act like a humidity dome. The light was about 2 feet away.
