Starter / Combo Tents

I'm sure its been covered a millions time but the search function is failing me. Please direct me to the location to a current one if there is.

Any who, decided its probably about time to get a tent. Ive always been keen of the Gorilla Tents, but I'm also cheap. So with that said my wallet loves the idea about those combos, tent / fan etc. I do not need lighting, but the tent and fan combinations look appealing. I'm not opposed to collecting another light if its good and or the price is right.

What are your experiences with those ebay / amazon specials? The Vivosuns and even cheaper. I'm not too concerned about scent masking properties, just am looking for a decent setup. Will require pass throughs for my RDWC and keeping the res outside.

I have a 400w HPS/MH Lamp and I know 3x3 is perfect, but thinking maybe 4x4 for the comfort of space, only plan on growing 2 maybe 3 Autos at a time.

Any advise in the tent world is highly appreciated. All my grows have either been outside or open room. Is it worth trying to hunt down used setups? Does that kind of marketplace even exist outside of friend groups?

2 or 3 autos should fit well in a 3x3. I will say, all the reading and digging that i did, steered me away from the combo tents. There seemed to be light leakage between the chambers, which you can probably remedy with duct tape but why should you have to?

My opinion, get a 2x2 for veg/seed starting/clones and a 3x3 or 4x4 for flower. If your space will allow it.

I say yes or you can by vivsun that’s what I use cheap but works

I'm sorry if my explanation was a little vague. I'm not looking for a multi room tent. Considering I'm doing autos for personal consumption I wont be needing "perpetual" operations. However though, thank you for that advice.

Did you just get a tent? or one of those kits that include other accessories?

OH, the combo package, i see what you mean.

For whatever reason, buying bundles of grow equipment is actually more expensive than piecing together your own kit. Unlike literally every other "bundle" you buy of any other product. Not sure why.

Interesting, its been a while since I been down the rabbit hole of piecing together a setup, have just been working with whatever I had.
DIY RDWC system, DIY hood early on, then bought a second hand convertible ballast and hood. Ill start back up this weekend and see what I can find in the kit / build your own world. I also wasnt sure if the filters that come with those kits are even worth the materials they're made with. Ha.

You'll be happier in the end if you research each component and purchase them separately. If you think you might upgrade your light in the near future, go with a 4x4. If you like the 400 watt hps, you'll love a 600 watt and they are still much cheaper than equivalent LED fixtures at around $129. Check out the AC infinity vent fans, the 4" for a 3x3 and the 6" for the 4x4. Don't skimp out on air circulation within the tent either-6" clip ons aren't the best option there if you want real air movement. Take some time and research each component you buy, that way you won't have any regrets, or immediately want to replace something you got in a "complete" tent setup.

Very well explained. Thank you, because this is exactly what happens with me. In the world of lighting, I'm not in love with my 400w. but feel no need to replace/ upgrade. In the spirit of keeping costs down I want to keep it, but in the long run, the efficiencies of the 600 vs 400 is a no brainer. I understand all in all the 600 is the perfect wattage for the output. But I kind of made my bed with this. I have a 300w LED quantum board, but I only use that for my tropical houseplants.
Thanks for the recommendation for the AC Infinity, i seen them a lot on the web stores. Maybe ill swing by the local hydro store and see what they have to offer. Support small/ local business and all.

If you like 400watt HPS, you'll LOOOOVE 315watt CMH. Will blow up a 3x3 but gets dull along the walls and corners in a 4x4.

Possible to run one with my older convertible ballast? I looked online and that idea isn't looking bright (pun intended).

I have the gorilla 5x5 and it has little light leaks on all the seams just like the cheaper tents. Ac infinity has a good tent for like $300 less and it’s super thick and sturdy as well. Definitely get the 4 inch ac infinity exhaust with the controller they work great

THIS WOMAN IS AWESOME!!!

I've got a Zazzy tent and I love it. Great quality. It's a 4x4, I think it was around $100 Nice sturdy zippers, seems well built.
I bought some no name 28" x 28" tent from Amazon, what a piece of junk I swear I paid close to what the 4x4 cost. Zippers are absolute garbage, they get hung up 90% of the time, and it takes effort to unstick them. They stick in the same spot everytime, it's like the zipper wasn't sewn flat there. I guess it works, has light leaks everywhere and feels about as sturdy as wrapping paper. One day soon while getting the zipper free, the zipper handle is going to break, or it's going to tear the zipper and tent fabric. I see a lot of repairs in my future.
I looked for a 2x2 Zazzy tent, but I either couldn't find one, or it was only 4' tall. I liked that the tent was an extra 6" in length and width, and it was the tallest I could find for a decent price. Guess now I know why. I have heard good things about AC Infinity tents as well.

I'm new here. Happened to find this thread while looking around. I did a full aeroponics grow in a vivosun 4x2 combo tent kit. the kit came with 1 vs1000 LED light carbon filter with exhaust and some green glasses lol. I had no light leak as some have stated here as other places with reviews. This was my second indoor grow ever. Last time was about 15 years ago lol. Anyway I pulled about 7 OZ of white widow off of one plant in this 4x2 tent with a SCROG net and an aeroponics set up using the home depot black and yellow stackable storage bin. I did end up purchasing another vs1000 light for better coverage during flower.
