I see what your working with now!! Lol Finally!!!!!! Do you know the wattage? and Lumens? CFL's do not have very good light penetration thats why they need to be closer.

I'm sorry I don't it's a friends light it's the only thing I didn't buy new!!! The hps is brand new and runs thru a ballast

Looks like a 125w CFL, going by the Pic, should(normally) say the Wattage on the neck/ballast area?
How big is your Tent 1500mm?? is that correct??? 59" or 4.9'??
You could put a timer on the Hps and run from 6pm till 12pm which would give you 18/6 IMO plants need a rest! also I think if you just lowered the CFL to like peeps have said 2-3 you will get better results..with the Hps unless Air-Cooled you will need to have about 12-16" away from ladies.
For HEAT hold your hand at the same level as tops of Ladies for a few minutes...IF your hand gets hot..then so are your ladies..
So the CFL can be closer, the Hps not so, but will give you more Lumens and Light spread than the CFL...
Swings and roundabouts...

nice1 mate thanks for help. I've gone hor hps ATM keeping ttent warm aswel moisture humidity temp is all good!! Light is about 2ft away. The tent is 1500mm square not sure wat that is inches.
