irish spring soap is the way to go, another effective method is during the early summer my dog (german shepard) sheds alot. i simply brush her and save the fur, (a good white grocery bag full is easy in one sitting)
scatter that around ur crop, also mothballs are effective, for slugs as well.
goodluck.

gauranteed no fail: predator urine! coyote, wolf, mountain lion. You can get it online, just google it. For all you guys bitching about cruelty to the deer, they are vermin, like rats.. There's a free kill season here, longer than hunting season, because there are TOO MANY DEER!!! If I'm gonna set mousetraps to protect foodstores, I'm definately not going to have any qualms about protecting my crops!! However, if you have pets, be careful as predator urine can attract other predators..

I'm an inexperienced grower, but I have been hunting since I was about 10. I also live around a dense deer population in a residential area. When the numbers of deer are high, it's incredibly hard to keep them away. If they want something, they don't give a shit about your eggshells or piss. I've trimmed my body hair outside around the garden and have seen deer visit the same night. Your best bet for keeping deer out is to establish your presence, but that is not always smart when you're growing. Even then, all it takes is one hungry doe to ravage your crop. If you can hunt them, hunt them. If you can't, use chicken wire or something sturdy around each of your grows. If you can't do that, kill a coyote or two and lay 'em near your plants. Hell, use your leftovers to attract coyotes so they will start frequenting the area.

The only successful way of effectively keeping deer away is FEAR. Be creative.

Most commercial critter repellants I've seen on the market contain eggs, pepper, and garlic. Maybe the effectiveness your friend was having from the egg shells is coming from the leftover egg stuck to the shell. Just a thought.

Hahaha. That pic is so sexy.I'm finishing up on my first grow from seed. Critical mass and bb cheese. I've took a clone off each of my plants so I can get the best mothers. One indoor and one outdoor of each. I'm not doing a journal or anything on this first grow but if anybody wants to see a few pics ill show them. Anyways this is a good thread I've learned how to repel vermin. Thanks all I'm going to do journal of my fiture grows right now I'm growing more mothers of amnesia haze, shining silver haze, blue dream, special lush, and special queen #1 if anybody in mi needs clones. Also got a variety of Babe cheese and cm as I said earlier. Thanks for the info all

must be city kids. this aint a PETA site its rollitup.org

Killing a half dozen deer to harvest 10-12 lbs of a strain i've worked on my whole life, not to mention the pain staking labor it takes to dig the holes, the stress of transporting the plants into my area. Im guessing both of you guy have never dug a hole in the rocky, mountain, DRY soil. its hard fucking work for hours. AND HAULING 50LBS potting soil in at a time. screw the deer. I kill them and eat them. i dont buy meat at the store. i kill it then freeze it. whats wrong with that?

and another thing... those steel traps were meant for ANYTHING/ANYBODY that finds my plot. :) a mans gotta do what hes gotta do to survive and stay high.
