Start Flowering under 400W MH???

My second batch took of like wild flowers in my RDWC under the 400. Problem is, the first batch vegged (and struggled) for almost 5 weeks in veg and I assumed that round 2 would need 4-5 weeks as well.

Wrong.

So I have the flower room occupied for at least another 2 weeks but I need to start flowering these or they are going to overgrow my room.

Any adverse effects to having them under the 400 MH for the first 2 weeks of 12/12? I do have a switchable ballast. Would I benefit much from throwing a HPS bulb in there for this amount of time?

Cheers!

you could start 12/12 with the MH for sure, it wont hurt much, especially if only for a couple weeks. but if you have the HPS, i would use that. many people only use HPS, from start to finish.

Thanks! I guess I really don't have a switchable ballast until I have another bulb to switch. Might have to pick one up on the way home.

Cheers!

I plan to use MH for the first two weeks of flower next time anyway to hope to reduce stretch. Looks like you fell into a nice meant to be situation.

Guess I'll be getting the Mothers out of there and switch them to 12/12 tonight. There's 9 plants in that pic and it's getting crowded. I am just shocked and delighted with how well they grow in the buckets once you get it dialed.

yes it is a very fun and rewarding hobby....

PS. plants can double or tripple in size when you go to 12/12, so if it's crowded now, you might want to put less plants in the room. Overcrowding causes more problems than you think. (mold, powdery mildew, light fluffy nuggs) this was always my problem when first learning to grow. I would vegg untill the grow space was nice and evenly filled out. then when i hit 12/12......holly crap ! ! ! !

Yeah, they are getting crowded where they are now, a 4x4 space. The flower room is 7x7 but I want to make sure they don't over grow that space when I have it open. Hence why I am looking to get them started now. Just didn't expect them to grow that much faster than the first batch. Height is my main concern. I only have 6 feet.

I think i would prune them to the right size then height wouldn´t be a problem anymore.Ill hope you get your problems solved and keep posting :)
