stacking pots?

Hello all, I have a dillemma... I recently transported clones from rockwool cubes into their soil mediums, after their roots shot out the cube... I put them into 1 gallon pots, the same ones if you look at my journal, that I have used in the past...

My dilemma is as such... the roots have grown out of control fast.. they have already reached the bottom and have begun to grow out the bottom holes in the pot.. I do not want to deny these new roots growth but do not see, in terms of space/money, it practical to transplant them into 5 gallon+ pots. I don't own pots these big, nor do I have the width in my grow space...

I do however, have limitless vertical space, so I ask, what are your thoughts on stacking my 1 gallon pot with roots out the bottom into another 1 gallon pot with the soil medium... I would assume at that point, the pot ontop could never move because the roots would shoot into the second pot below it. Anyways, any advice, concerns or thoughts would be more than helpful bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

I've seen it done... but you have to remove the bottom of the top/original pot... then stack it up to make a 2 gallon pot. also once this is done you could fower to a nice size as long as you provide proper ferts...

I'd def. cut the bottom off if the stacking u speak of MUST be done. They plant may still be stunted however since the roots would have to grow only DOWN into the new dirt. I think it would work if that's what u gotta do, but first, i'd suggest making sure u can't find any TALLER pots with the same width ya know? Keep us posted as to how this tuns out.

Do you really think i have to cut the bottom off even if it is already net like? I really do not know how to describe this without posting up a picture but the bottom, is very drainyy.. as in you could see into the very bottom of the plant... right now they are reaching through the holes in many seperate places.. The last time I did it, I just put the two ontop of each other

Sounds like u got netpots, like the ones they use for hydro. If that's the case, u probly wouldn't need to cut the bottom off, they'll grow right through.
