sounds like ur on track ....getttn the hang of this res shit and ec. man i dont have a 6 handy quite yet. i will be replacing the 6 ballast and cord/socket set/bulb , but keeping the hood, which will fit the cord/socket 1000watter setup. at that junction in time, maybe here in the near future u could def have a 600......otherwise sounds like u have a solid plan. u have a lil edge on experience on me, so i know ur plans will work. suk ur constantly in remodel mode, thats how i feel, im wanting to add lamps and more footage which equals construction, i cant wait for the dust to settle....anyways hellya bro keeeep it up Rasta....
it always seems like there is something else to get done..

the veg room is pretty much where i want it to be.. i would like to replace the 2x 400w hps/mh ballasts i have with 600's for sure... the greatest part of the veg room is the overlap in light.. i notice it affect the middle row the most... since the middle row has lights above and to the sides of them they seem to grow outwards... more bushy..

the flower room is going to be the bitch to set up... i still need to get a second ebb and gro, another water chiller, a 10" and 6" exhaust fan, a wall mount oscilating fan, and either 6x600w hps or 4x1000w hps... i havent decided which im going for yet.. i like the coverage of the 600s... it'd pretty much give me a solid canopy of light in the flower room... but the 1000's would give the largest buds... gotta do some cost comparisons as far as the setup... plus i have all the little shit to get (ducting, thermostat, ect)...

but yea.. im making progress... able to see how the plants react to different ec's... know what to check to avoid equip failures... comfortable with the temps and everything else... thanks for sure tho bro.. always nice to have encouragement from friends...

oh.. if you do end up upgrading, give me a heads up... maybe we can work something out where i can help you purchase your new shit and i can come into a couple 600's bongsmilie

quick update.... the last tundra seed i started to germ has sprouted... i am going to try to let all the plants reach maturity prior to going into flowering.. but if there are a couple that arent fully ready to flower, i still will start... my concern is going to be space at this point... im glad i didnt add any more sites to this grow or i'd really be fucked...

Sounds like your well on your way. Glad to see the nute burn has recovered. That bluehash looks good looking forward to seeing the progress. The flower room won't be that bad. Just roll a fatty and get her done. I have my mothers established (blueberry, white widow and giga bud) and I'm starting to clone. I am looking for a new strain to start any recommendations?

morning guys..
good day brotha.. how's it going?

Sounds like your well on your way. Glad to see the nute burn has recovered. That bluehash looks good looking forward to seeing the progress. The flower room won't be that bad. it'll be a good day or two project getting the flower room set up for sure... it wont be bad.. and it'll be cooler outside so the room will be cooler too... since the flower room side has been shut off from the veg room side its way hot in there.... there isnt any kind of exhaust in it either... but still.. ill have to hang lights before i can hook up exhaust and get it running.. maybe i'll just wait until the middle of the night to do the work... either way, once thats done, and the fine tuning of things is done, i can finally just relax a little and go for the ride..

so as far as strains go i can tell you what i'm most looking forward to and whats growing best in my grow right now.. and my personal favorites.. other than blueberry since you have it already.. but its on a couple of the lists itself..

most looking forward to:
- matanuska tundra (loosely known as alaskan thunderfuck.. waited years to try)
- super lemon haze (supposed to be super potent and high yielding)
- strawberry cough (its been a long long time..)

best growing:
- the white shark was growing amazingly until the nute burn.. but she's turned around very nicely...
- the strawberry cough has exploded since she recovered from the nute burn
- the super lemon haze has shown nice growth over the last week.. and it's able to stand a higher ec... so its less likely to get burned than other strains..

my personal favorite strains (thus far.. could change):
- purple cotton candy
- east coast sour diesel
- jack herer

i dunno if that'll help or not.. hope it does tho

i was looking into those also.. i have some soma seeds floating around my house actually now that you mention it!! LOL i fucking totally forgot about them.. i'll have to do some searching and get these figured into my grow...

so i was thinking about something and need some input from you guys on... after i get this flower room set up i am going to do some of the mixed seeds i have.. but of course i want to weed out the males asap because i only have so many sites to fill... in order to weed the males out quickly i was thinking about starting the seeds in soil on a 12/12 schedule.. as soon as they start showing sex i would take cuttings and root those cuttings and veg them out.. that way i only get the females.. and i figure doing this would be less stressfull on the plants than starting them in 12/12 and then switching them to 24/0 or whatever...

just spent some time up with the girls... its been really fucking hot the last couple days, and i can feel it in the grow room... the water chillers working, but its warmer than i want it to.. the res is still about 20 degrees cooler than the room... which is close to 95 i think...

so this got me to thinkin about a couple things... first was the water chiller... i believe i am going to go with a larger water chiller on the flower side than i am using on the veg side... i think it will end up getting warmer on that side.. so i want to have a larger chiller so it wont have to work as hard...

i also think i am going to use 2 x 8" fans to cool to two rows of lights i will have in the flower room.. even though they will only have 6" flanges, i will just get reducers.. this will move more air and hopefully keep the lights cooler... or will 6" fans be big enough to cool the lights?

i'm also going to replace the 6" fan i have on my can filter with a 10" one... the 6" isnt moving the air out of the "extraction room" fast enough and its causing a positive pressure in it.. this is part of the heat problem too... so i figure i'll need to pull more air out of that room when i get additional fans set up considering the 6" fan isnt keeping up now...

spent some time with the girls today.. as i do most days.. as we all do most days... pretty much was moving the girls around to optimize their lighting...

the way it was set up i had the large white shark, blue berry, and the smaller strawberry cough in the middle row under the hps lamps... the problem is the cough was starting to stretch tooo much for my taste.. i guess thats something i will have to contend with until i can replace the hps with either 2 more floros (ideally) or get 2 x 600w ballasts to replace them..

so the goal was to figure out how to optimize the lighting to keep stretching to a minimum on all plants... what i did was to move the middle row to the outside right row.. and move the smaller plants in that row under the hps lamps... this did a couple things...

1) it allowed the larger plants to actually get more light.. since they are by a wall not only do they get the light from above, but they get the reflection back onto them.. this will help keep them from getting taller (white shark and blue berry) and keep the strawberry cough and giga bud, which was also moved to that row, from stretching too much...

2) i was able to lower the hps lamps down closer to the smaller plants that are now in the middle row.. which gives both outside rows extra light as well.. since the hps lamps are closer to the ground, the white poly underneath the sites will reflect the light back up to the bottom of the girls a little more... again helping to limit stretch...

3) keeping the larger plants to the right side of the grow room opened the room up a little and increased air movement.. which is never a bad thing.. and with as the heat as it has been the last couple days the more air i can move the better..

the water chiller has done a good job keeping the res cool.. i have it set at 68.. and the water is 76 right now... given the room is about 95 or so i can't complain... this is why i think having a larger chiller in the new flower room will be important.. it should keep the water cooler with less effort...

i was looking through the picture album i have on my computer with the pics of the girls on.. and most of it was a mess.. i had files with plants that died on here and shit... so i cleaned it all up and started over basically... so i ended up taking new shots of the girls and figured since i took em i'd post them....

the larger plants i thought were interesting.. so i took some stats on them and i figured i'd post the additional info for them too.. most of the smaller plants arent really worth commenting on.. but i wanted to have reference pics for later.. and for you to watch growth from...

i still cant get the copy and paste to work with the pictures... i always end up with just a link and not the pic... so bare with me... the list of the girls is in the same order they are posted.. and if i thought anything about the plant was worth posting the info is next to the name...

white shark - as you can see she's made a great recovery from the nute burn.. and she's finally starting to show some nice growth on her.. in fact i had to super crop her again to keep growth down... she's 17" tall about.. and 18" wide.. she has 21/22 nodes and around 24 tops that i could count..

blue berry - she never really was affected by the nute burn.. but she seems to have maxed out her height.. she is still growing up little by little.. but most vertical growth, for now, seems to have slowed.. she really want to bud.. just covered in pistils... cant wait to see what she does for me!! she's 15" tall and about 18" wide.. right around 15 or 16 nodes.. and i counted about 18 tops on her

strawberry cough - i had put her under the hps lamps, which were about 18" from her.. which made her stretch a lot.. well at least what i consider a lot.. im not used to seeing them stretch like that at all... or really any stretching at all... but she should slow now in her now home... she's about a foot tall and 16" wide.. around 14 nodes.. and 8 to 10 tops... i am pretty sure she's a "mostly one cola" strain.. so i am thinking about topping her... any suggestions there?? i did try to super crop her a few times.. but within a day or so she's corrected herself and is growing again.. i dont even think the super crop affects her that much..

giga bud - one of my favorite plants.. she's only 6" tall.. but is 12" wide.. and have about 12 nodes on her.. she is fucking SUPER compact... and is showing 12 tops about... its crazy how she is.. i am hoping to get a little bit of stretch from her since i moved her... she's about a foot from the lights.. but i think with the amount of light she is getting i wont see much stretch.. i guess i just want enough room to be able to see the main stem.. its hard to get to!

super lemon haze #2

super lemon haze #1 - this is the one that started out as a mutant.. it sorta reminds me of a spider the way she looks... but again, like any plant under my floros, she is super compact....

white shark clone - i hope she ends up like her mother!!

super lemon haze #3

the next 2 are matanuska tundra

and the last one is the blue hash - she is coming back great from the nute burn as well.. its hard to see in the pic but on side of her, under the thick as top of leaves she has, has no branches... they died and fell off during the burn and havent grown back... its almost like a mushroom really.. most of the stem has nothing.. all the growth you see is at the top.. where i fim'd her i got 3 tops.. which was nice... i just wish she would push upwards now..

so again.. just to make it easy.. heres the list of pics without the commentary..

whiteshark
blueberry
strawberry cough
gigabud
super lemon haze
super lemon haze
white shark clone
super lemon haze
matanuska tundra
matanuska tundra
blue hash

oh and lastly the final seed i germ'd to fill out the room has sprouted.. it actually did yesterday or something.. im just waiting for it to grow out a little before throwin her in... i figure by thursday or so she should be good...

since i plan on starting flowering the first of september i dont know if the new sprout will reach maturity or not.. in fact im pretty sure she wont.. but i still plan on going into flowering.. i figure over the first couple weeks of flowering while she's doing her hormone changes she should get close to her maturity then...

im trying.. basically after today they have 20 days to veg.. so three more weeks really including today.. which means that one of the plants will only have 2 1/2 weeks of vegging since im waiting a couple more days to put her in her site.. gotta wait for a little more root formation yet.. but not long...

i was just going through some pics from my last harvest, looking for a new bud to use for a bud face.. and i started getting stoked for this next flower.. i just miss having buds in the grow room.. i cant wait to get this other room set up and start having flowering plants ALL the time..

i think the hydro store i am using now has an aero set up there now in back for demenstartions... i want to get down and check it out.. although it will be a LONG LONG time before i switch setups again it never hurts to look around
yea since ive thrown the lady outside and am holding off for the coolers months, im tryin to explore all options. ive just been pickin up pieces here and there, im just hoping with such a high gpm pump will it damage the roots from the high pressure..

simpsonsampson420

i dont know what the standard or ideal gpm pump would be for aero.. i would think that would be fine.. and have read about a few setups where they use even stronger pumps than that.. which again, leads me to believe you are going to be fine with that...

quick update on things.. i added the last sprout into the last open site today... the taproot was about an inch long from the bottom of the cube.. so i said fuck it.. i had to top the res off with about 10 or so gallons of water.. which lowered the ec some.. and instead of adding more nutes, i let it go.. just to let the sprout get accustomed to the nutes and can grow some roots.. after this week, when i top the res off i will be using a 1/4 strength solution like i should be using...

couple quick pics...

the first is just a room shot with all the sites filled... i wanted to get it now so i can have a week to week comparison.. assuming i dont have to move to many plants around it should be the same girls in the same sites.. so i/we can watch the growth as the room fills from the same angle.. just to give perspective the back right light is around 2 to 2.5 ft above the ground...

the last couple pics are of the mutant super lemon haze.. the first pic was taken on 7/25 and the second one was taken yesterday.. i was just suprised at the growth from her.. she is so compact its hard to see how much she has grown.. and the fact she was such a mutant and is ok now and has grown so well kinda amazed me... anyways.. here they are...

the last sprout took... she starting to grow.. at this point i have figured out the germing and clone root needs before i put the plants in the system.. as long as the tap root or any roots show through the bottom of the cube they are good.. and as long as i keep them under the floros they are fine...

today would normally be when i would post new pics.. but i just did the other day... so i think im going to go take new ones and compare them to the last ones i took and see if they are worth posting...

so as of now i officially have my system established and figured out from seedling through veg growth... i also know the failures and consequences of a few things and what to make sure to check...

now comes time for the final planning of the flower room... and i have had a few ideas of some small changes in the planning.. and i just wanted some input feed back from people who are actually using what i will be purchasing...

first i am still sort of hung up in the 6 x 600's or 4 x 1000s... its mainly a coverage thing.. but with the room being wrapped in reflective material will 4 x 1000w lights light up a 9x7 room nicely?? or would the 6x600's light it up more?? no light will end up being wasted... well very very little light... so yeah.. im opening the debate ONE last time.....

now.. the second question relates somewhat to that if i go with it i wont have room for the 6x600s.... i've been thinking about reflectors.. and i keep looking at the parabolic reflectors like you use MG... and i was thinking if i went with 4 x 1000s, and used those reflectors, and got a 12" exhaust fan for the room that it would save me some loot and also increase the spread of the 1000w lights... it would basically form a soild canopy of reflectors above the canopy... but i worry about heat... the 12" fan is a 1100 cfm fan.. and it would have to cool the 4 x 1000's and a water chiller...

and lastly.. i would use the reflectors i use for the hps lamps i have now if the parabolics wouldnt work.. would they reflect the light better and be better to use since i can air cool them??

anyways... this will be the last convo about the flower room until it is actually up and running in a few months.. just need to do this last planning..

good morning sampson....hows things been.....Ive been working like a crazy person he last couple weeks.

I don't have alot of experience growing but I have seen awsome results on RIU utizing both methods. Last crop I had a 600 and this one im running a 1000, I think the penetrating power of the light is better with the 1000 and the bud I think is more dense. I personally would get vented hoods for keeping your temps down.

afternoon bro... things are good.. just been taking it easy.. visited my mom for a few hours today.. shes awesome.. always good to see her... glad your keeping busy... i will be like that in a couple months... once i go to put the flower room together it'll be a lot of work to get done... plus im working on a deal to purchase a restaurant... i dunno if it'll go through.. but i'm hoping...

well that really does it.. i mean density is what i want.. and i guess i need to quit jerking myself around and just decide i'm going with the 1000's.. thats the best for the situation both ending yield and cost wise..

i think i'll end up going with the air cooled just to be on the safe side.. im wait to hear MG's answer to the light question below to make up my mind.. but its always better to be safe than to be sorry...

morrning bro waz up 2day
afternoon to you to brotha... how ya been.. havent heard much from ya.. still out wondering around in nature huh?? lol not long to go yet huh??

so how hot does your room get with the 2 x 1000s you have using those parabolic reflectors?? is it bad??

just a couple pics i took while i was up checking on the girls.. the one with the two girls is the white shark and blue berry.. you can see how much of a bush that white shark is.. im SO happy she turned around and is healthy again... the other single girl is the strawberry cough.. i just super cropped her again today.. she's starting to bush out a lot herself...

yep been out every day now.. my room at its hotest just a few times has been 91 degrees... notbad at all. sure didn't feel like though felt cooler.. them chrysles are sure packing on the weigh... hell i just added two plants to the flower room 9 days agoand they already have nice littlebudsone them.. luving the 2nd light..

well if you are looking at 91 with 2 then i will definatly need to make sure they are air cooled.. which is not a big deal... thanks for that heads up tho..

hows the hunting season look like its going to be?? i know from those one pics you posted you had a few in the area... seeing anymore??

you should post a couple pics of the crys.. i would love to see how the girls are doing... just talking about flowering plants is making me jealous!! oh well, im not that far behind at all..
