Sprouting question

so, i just germinated my plant (only one)and it's in the soil and all that, but i've been reading lots of different guides, some saying different things. Before i see it sprouting should i keep it out of direct sunlight, or should i give it the same amount of light as i would when its in the normal grow stage?
thanks!:bigjoint:

no light until it breaks the surface of the soil

As long as your temps keep the soil warm, I would say lights off.

If it gets cold, I would use the lights at least to keep the soil warm. Just make sure the soil does not dry out

For whatever it's worth, I tried that approach (lights off) until I saw it.. fast sativa strain.. and my little bitch stretched to 3 inches before I could even see it. Died later, too. I sprout in paper towels, bury 1/2" beneath the soil top, water and leave under normal light with other veg plants. It will get no light until it breaks soil. Pretty straightforward.

IMO i would say leave lights on so your plant has something to look for and to keep it from stretching. but i guess if your around ur plant a lot it wont matter.
