Sprout?

Hello,,I soaked a seed in warm water for 24 hours then placed it in a damp paper towel in the fold then placed that in a zip lock bag for about 45 hours. When I opened the towel up I found a sprout almost 2 inches long. Should I have opened sooner and planted or does it really matter? Here is a pic taken 14 hours after planting? Does it look OK and do I just keep the soil damp at all times?

Right now I only have a 125W CFL on it. I may take it outside when its bigger not sure or set a couple more CFL's on it till I get my room set up and some real light on her How long should I leave the light on? Its been on 22hrs right now

any idea if this is male or female? I think it is female but not 100% on that. I know I jumped the gun on flowering after 3 weeks but I want it to stay small. It has been flowering 12/12 for 17 days with two 150w CFL's at 2700K as close to it as will allow it grew so fast over night last night one leaf got a little brown here are some pics first pic from the left is top of plant

what exactly makes it a male is it the clusters at the base of branches? I thought the hair like pistils on the stem made it a female LOL well no big deal really just learning its still fun to grow even if it is a waste
