Also.... How do you plant later.... I thought it was all about the sun... If you plant later they will be in vegetative stage shorter.... And then flower faster.... Please explain.... Because I want to get the most out of my high quality seeds.... They weren't cheap... Lol
Planting later will mean you don't make as much weight. I'm not advising you to do it that way. I'm just saying that last summer was a long, hot bitch, and I would rather be fishing than carrying water.

One way people get the most out of their seeds is to make clones of your plants. Are you going to be vegging with lights? If so you can get a plant about 2-3 foot tall pretty early, then take 15-20 cuttings from it. If you have trouble sexing your plants, clones are also a good way to find out which ones are your males. Speaking of males, make some seeds. Pick your best males and do some crosses. Most of the stress will go away when you have 1-2 hundred seeds instead of 1-2.

That is pretty much what I generally do, minus the organic. I do use time release and bulk farm fertilizers. There is lots of smell associated with organic ferts. The varmints love to dig around in there when it's stinky.

I do use a lot of composted manures in my soil mixes. There isn't as much smell with compost.

Alright man I went today and got my entire spot picked out there are many tall trees such as pines oaks and cypress and on the ground there are lots of palmettoss and I am going to clear some palmettoss and make my grow there it will get lots of evening sun and it will start getting morning sun at about 11 or noon.... And get some sun throught the day.... Ill try and cut some lanes and open it up a tad bit ..... I think for this grow I'm going to do all bag seed.... Just for experience.... I have about 120$ in quality seed such as kandy kush and white widow and candy creme and Jack herrer and I really wanna make sure this spot will be able to produce at least bag seed without either dying or deer eating it or hogs getting to it or someone smelling it and ruining my site.... I will start early may I have over 60 bag seeds so I will most likely plant a good amount just in case some are male and some don't make it.....

Also... Since ill be doing bag seed this first time around I'm trying to do as many seeds as I possibly can.... But there's only so many 5 gal buckets I can get and only so much soil I can buy.... I'm trying to grow as many seeds as I can... Any tips... Maybe 2 plants per 5 gal bucket....?

One plant in a bucket is going to be hard to manage: you'll end up with a tortured (stressed), root bound plant that will never get enough water. It can be done but it ain't gonna be easy...

Hmmmmm then how should I grow.... Cause I'm afraid of helicopters and people on those kites.... I've seen them before.... And the spot I picked with the palmettoss there's no way your digging into the ground.... And I'm okay with planting in another open spot... Only thing is I am going to need to fense it in because of the deer.... And hogs... So the fense would be visible...... I need some answers and ideas fast... Cause I need a make a choice and start my site.....

Sounds like a good plan. Growing is the best way to learn about growing. Many on here use wire cages to keep out deer and such. I've toughed it out without them because I worry about them being seen, but I had big losses to deer last season.

Palmettos grow in sandy soil usually. Have you tried digging there? I always plant in the ground. It helps a ton with water retention. But if you must grow in pots, you can make your own smart pots with some old wire and landscape fabric. Rusty wire is good for fencing you go that route. Hogs are a bitch. Hard to keep them out if they are in your area.

You can make lots of seed from dusting pollen on just one branch per plant. No need to pollinate the whole plant. And just pick one or two of your best males and seed your very best females. No need to seed anything but the best stuff.

Also no reason not to try one or two of your good seeds. Just put them far enough apart you can control pollination.

Most nurseries will give you old plastic pots, or sell them really cheap. And mushroom mulch compost is 15-20 bucks a scoop {truck load} at your local Farmer's Co-Op or Mom and Pop seed and feed store. It is the cheapest part of my soil mixes. Buy some peat moss and make your own soil. If you have space, plant a small garden, so no one thinks it's odd you are buying gardening stuff. And if you know anyone with cows or horses, ask for some manure. Free is still the best price for anything.

@Mike wanker when picking a grow spot, you need to keep in mind the sun will get higher in the sky as the days get longer. A tool I use is counting backwards and forwards from the Winter Solstice {12-21}. Today {2-3-17} is 6 weeks and 2 days past the solstice. The sun will be exactly the same height in the sky 6 weeks and 2 days before the Winter Solstice, or 11-7-17. This will show you how much sun you will be getting near harvest time.

Always try to plant on the north side of trees, since the sun goes south in the fall and winter.

Hmmm okay ill keep you all in the loop as to what I'm planning.... Right now I'm thinking of just using the little clearing I found kinda near a lake. Still debating on this spot because of the deer and hogs... Ill have to go back out and see if I can find any better spots because I really don't want the fencing to be seen so I need to find a better spot away from all that maybe I will keep you all posted

Start a thread on here when you pop your seeds. One bit of advise I will give you is to not put all your eggs in one basket. Have several smaller patches in different locations. Most of my patches were 6 plants or less.

I also use the stinky smelling stuff from Lowe's to repeal varmints.

That's really funny man I was literally just telling my buddy that I will have at least 3 spots.... My question is... Smell.... After 2 months of planting.... How much will the plants smell.... And how far will that scent blow?

Smell is real strain dependent. I grew out some bag seed last year that was stinky right from the start. Most of the other strains I had didn't smell until flower. Not many folks walk anymore. Driving by in a car you will never smell it. When I was hiking I would only catch a hint of the CP1 {BP} once in a while, and it was 15 yards from the road.

Because there is a nearby house thru a swamp bout 300 yrs away from where I want to plant one of my spots but I'm wondering if they will smell it around the 4th of July because a lot of people usually show up there.... That's the only time I'm worried.... I shud have it harvested before thanksgiving....

I wouldn't worry about smell as much as maybe being seen going to check on them.
