Spongy Stems

Helping a friend on his first grow. 3 plants in a 2x4x6. All 3 plants have soft stems. Almost like pinching a soda straw. Bending LST is out of the question. Gave him some silica and a second fan. Never seen this before. They seem to be growing too fast. 5 gal fabric pots, Advanced Nutrients Trio, happy frog soil. Autos. About a week into flower. If these things don't get better quick, no way they're gonna support buds. Took him a net if things start falling over. Any idea what is causing this? Only other possibility I can think of is too much red or not enough blue on the budget 100w lights.

Just a guess without pics of the plants. If it's stretchy I'd go with not enough light and fan. But hopefully Si and staking helps, very kind of you to help him.

Dli has been 35-40 over the last week or so. I had 2 autos sprout about a week before his and his are double the height of mine if not more. I think I'm gonna loan some better lights barring some revelations here. Thanks.

Besides you not giving enough information is there a reason there isn't a photo of 3 said plants?

Since were only able to guess I have two of my own.

Bad lighting: Your grow light is too weak or just too far away(or both).

Temperature in the tent: Excessive heat and lack of humidity in the grow area.

No pics because there is some distance between us and he's not very tech tech savvy. Doesn't even grasp texting yet. I posted this morning before work. Heat and humidity is what it is. Tent is located on a screened in porch. Planning to take a couple 150w over next visit. Will get pics then.
