spidermites again!!!!

how do you get infected with spidermites, my last 2 grows have both got them, what can i do to prevent this happening, not impressed at all.

first off when completing a grow you need to disinfect your grow area which means washing lights fans floors walls with bleach secondly any plant that is near a infected plant will have mites cleanliness is the key even taking cuttings from a infected plant will have eggs = spider mites prior to placing plants into your grow room i suggest quarntining them treat them for bugs etc
once you determined there bug free place them into your grow room keep friends who also might grow the fck out as they could carry there diseased bug infected plants onto yours if your dealing with a room with bugs change , shower prior to entering another room as just by brushing a plant you can have eggs that YOU will transfer into another room

BEST way to rid spidermites is to actually dunk plant upside down into a bug killing detergent by moving plant up and down in this solution will rid them with 2 treatments forget about spraying plant thats a real joke you never get all infected areas in a plant its making a solution in a big barrel and dunking plant completely top first into it

^ what he said.. Seeds is another good way to ensure pest free genetics. Takes longer and is more labor intensive but it works.
Also limit unwanted traffic that may act as carriers. (Friends or Pets)

The best way to prevent spider mites is to use sns 209. Its the only product that will prevent them from getting on your plants in the first place. You add it to your res,, or soil. Its made by sierra natural science. They also have a spray called sns 217. That will kill them off your plants if you already have mites. The shit is unreal!!!! Good luck!

Along with cleanliness and sterilizing after each harvest get some ladybugs for you room they are cheap effecient and they eat spider mites an ounce of prevention is worth pounds come harvest time

I trust you have some type of filter on your inlet. I'm using a simple j-cloth at the moment, tacked over the inlet. A good trick for RSM is to raise temps to 100F for an hour or two.

Lady bugs eat aphides not spider mites. The only insect that will eat spider mites, is ” perditor mites” look it up. Aside from that, just get sns 209, and sns 217. Problem solved!

cheers cues, good idea with j-cloth thing, i do have some cloth gauze stuff on the inlet but its prob not gonna keep out tiny miniscule insects out.

i had mites once and when i did my second run of coarse i cleaned and disinfected the room but on my new grow i bought some bug spray from home depot and spray around (not on them) them every couple days, i hate mites.

I haven't had them, but they sound horrifying...hopefully I won't ever get them...

i hope you dont mate, lol i have had spidermites flying gnats and powdery milldew before.

Ladybugs actually DO eat spider mites. Read up a little more on it. Predator mites work as well but so do lady bugs.

I've always used neem oil throughout veg and the first week of flower. Not only does it prevent mites and other bugs but it also helps keep powdery mildew and mold away.

Cheers. I chose j-cloth as it seems to have a very tight weave to filter microspcopic stuff out, still lets loads of air through and is dirt cheap. Also, I can spray it with water to raise humidity.

What is j cloth? Where do I get it

me too. act like you have them, and you won't. regular botanical soap use keeps all bugs at bay, and the leaves seem to like it.
