1 - Do spider plants like alot of light (CFLs) or indirect sun?
2 - Do they like to grow in soil or sand/dirt?
3 - Do they like alot of water , some water or little water?

I hang mine in the windows, if the sun hits them some they should be ok. You just don't want the sun to be baking them all day. When I put them outside I don't let the sun hit them at all, hang them in the shade.

I put mine in just regular potting soil.

They will get lighter green in color and drop some when they're thirsty.

Good luck !

My mom has had these my whole life. You can't kill them, and they spread if you put them on the ground. She does keep them in full shade.

I always wondered what they'd look like in the ground, do you have a picture of that by chance?

It gets way below zero in the winter where I live.

I don't have a pic now. My parents live 70 miles away. I'm going in like 2 weeks, if I remember I can take a pic and will post it for you. It only freezes here (like 30 degrees, not to bad) about a dozen times a year, and it only freezes for about 4 hours, so I don't know how yours will do.

I have my spider plants in a clear hydro planter. with a bubbler. Looks really cool on my desk at work, you can see all the roots, (and they apparently don't dislike the light it seems).
