ok.spider mites are awful.i had some.my temps were 95 thats why.i moved my plants in a room with a/c and yes they are gone.first thing you must do is to have low temps.the problem with hum is that if you have spider mites during flowering you have to raise but your bud will rot.i had them during flowering and i used some neem oil too that really fucked them.BUT dont spray that thing on the bud.mites live under the leaves so thats were you should spray.dont use neem oil when lights are on.be sure that the plant is completely dry before you move it under the light.now for the last 10 days i think that if dont wanna buy this neem oil(that has to be the original not some mixes) you can make one of these home made mixes but now that i think again 10 days man if you gonna spray its gonna stink really bad.so maybe try to wash leaves one by one with water.as for the predators you can use Phytoseiulus persimilis but needs hum 70% to kill the bastards so during flowering maybe its better to use Amblyseius californicus thats more expensive that the first but can use it with lower humidity and higher temps

Use the Booms if you have 10 days or so you can hit them 2 times.... 3-4 day intervals

I have experienced spider mites several times over the last 13 years of growing and they can be buggers to shift!!!!

Neem oil IS a good preventative measure and I still use it regularly before buds set in. it STINKS though, be warned :-)

Going back to your question.....I have also been in that situation and personally I prefered to work with a brush and a weak neem solution to eradicate as many as I could see on and under the leaf, yes its fighting a losing battle but it helps. Once cut, hang the buds upside down as usual and every single one of those little things WILL slowly climb to the highest point, usually the string!.. and you will see them gradually form a single big brown 'blob' ...... you then take great satisfaction in having your revenge on them! Within a week your buds will be left clean but you may see some fine webbing left.

Nowdays I also use 'spider mite eliminator' from good uk grow stores. organic but works, I'm clear :-)

Hope some of this helps.

Hitem up with azamax or azatrol. Put in a wetting agent, wet betty or a couple drops of biodegradeable liquid dish soap. Also I use dont bug me. Azatrol you can use up to harvest sense its from the neem tree. All organic. It actutually gets in to the fluid stream of the plant so when bugs (spider mites) eat the plant material they actually starve to death. It causes the bugs to go hungry shrivel and die. No more munchin. Make sure you wash off everything after an hour or so with ph water. Use what the bottle says. Also Azatrol and Azamax are 70 us $

You can use a product called Purespray Green to effectively kill all 3 generations of spider mites, including eggs. Most insecticides only work on fully-grown insects and do not work on eggs. However, this mostly petroleum oil eliminates all stages of insect life to leave you feeling confident about your garden (unless you happen to miss some, so saturate your garden adequately)

Hot Shots no Pest Strips are mite killers. I wouldn't use them once you start to flower but before that they are a God send.

If I bring any clones home, they sit in a room with Hot Shots for 5 days before they go near other plants.

i tried a lot. no pest strips settled it.

[a couple of ideas that have worked for me.one is a very brave step only for the the small garden (You choose) if you can get it conqueror oil from YATES..Clean EVERTHING one should never put indoor plants outdoors/dont wear out door clothes in your room etc .transferance of bugs etc.. A lot to think about i know/ bugs is worse. make a /tepid/warm spray and totally drench your VEG plants take em out of the light first .depending what size. out of hot light ,dry them off with a fan( little computer cpu fans are easy to hold and manouvere and get seriuos air to small spaces) "individually making sure nooks and crannys are dry ..like any oil water mix moisture goes ,oil stays..Method for buds is scary but it has worked step 1 acup of baking soda acup of water in a bowl turn of ventilation close the door for 1 hour(should make them dozy) open door DONT take a deep breath get a nebulizer Steamer For colds and asthma/put your bug oil of choice with water and mist til buds are wet/moist/individually dry them totally dry,get them i n the dryest warmest place with good ventilation These methods are effective done patiently and with care and common sense,if anything i have posted helps someone in some way even to spark a new idea awesome and thank you all for you help with my issues regarding enlightenment ya ya ya Ps if you try this with your buds the only real chance of succes is get em dry(please dont ban me for even eluding to wetting buds thanks)

A bold first post. The banning committee is on sabbatical this week. They will take up your case when they return to session.

I tried AES110s formula and it worked wonders. I still have 6 OF 6 girls in flower thanks to this formula (2 each of GH Cheese, Barney's Sweet Tooth and Arjan's Haze #3 - See pics.)

I found only 1 bug so far after applying this formula. Application was made approx 3 weeks ago. The pistols on the GH cheese seemed to suffer from the application but I see new pistol growth. The Sweet Tooth and Haze took the application much better with the Haze doing the best. The pistols on the Haze looked just fine following the application but the Sweet Tooth seemed stunned for a few days and then picked up steam again. The Haze just took it in stride.

I had not read the application instructions good enough to see that once applied the formula was to be left on for 20 mins and then rinsed off. I rinsed it off 2 minutes later on average and it resolved my mite problems. I think 20 minutes would a done a number on the GH Cheese plants as they reacted the worse with 2 minutes time before being rinsed.

In the pics you can see the damage to the leaves from the mites. Everything was great 4+ weeks into flowering when I noticed the leaf damage and the mites now rapid progression up all my plants. They were starting to get into the bud leaves by the time I applied aes110's formula. Scars and dead portions of the leaves makes things a little ugly but they all look happy and healthier now and are getting skunk stinky.

+rep to AES110 for the recipe!

this stuff kills mites!! its all i use.
have fun killing those little bugers

1/4 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Apple Cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 drops dish detergent
1/4 Teaspoon Epsom Salts

Take a cup of very hot water and desolve the epsom salts, take rest of ingredients and place in a clean 2 liter bottle and let work out. Add epsom solution. Add water to fill to 48ozs(3/4 full).Shake well.

TO USE: Cover soil/medium with plastic, with lights off mist plant all over, especialy under leaves,
Wait 20 mins, then spritz off with clean fresh water shaking as much water off plant as you can.
The fresh water spritz rinse will remove the solution along with the desolved remains of the mites and their eggs.

Have fun with your new "Mite Eradicator"

Note by MrFixit: Water plants 1/2 hour before spraying. This will help keep your plants from absorbing the spray.

This solution has been tested and used as directed will not burn plants, the rinse is very important though as it removes the spent solution before it can concentrate and burn the plant. It also removes most of the dead mites and eggs so you don't end up smoking them.

The formula can be diluted further,to 1 liter and it will still kill the mites but isn't as effective at dissolving and removing the mite parts.
Since removing the mite debris is desirable,I recommend the stronger solution, just remember to rinse and shake.
This formula is alkaline(about 7.8- so please remember to rinse.

Mite irradication is absolutely assured and guaranteed if used as directed.
I've never seen ANYTHING work this well for mite irradication!!
I used to gas my booths for mites,it worked but they came back,I haven't seen a living mite in a long time now. They haven't come back, partly because of cooler weather, partly because I hosed the Roses that were infecting everything with the formula and wiped out all the mites during testing.
The only thing I wish I'd done different is,I wish I would have done sections of the Roses and preserved
some of the mites for later tests.I've had to go searching for victims to test it on and there just aren't any left!! I did find some victims for my final tests in the park where we have meetings, the plants by the river are pretty sickly and infested(were I should say,I walked around with ONE pint bottle and cleaned up most of the area.LOL)
If news of this formula were to become widespread, mites would become an endangered species!!!So GOOD HUNTING !

THIS IS TRUE. A month ago I found mites in my grow. I treated once with mite killer (cant remember the name) and I read on here about the hot shot no pest so I bought two. ZERO mites...

home depot has a product called organocide that works wonders you cant use during the flower stage cause it is mostly edible fish oil but if you use it as a preventative during veg it will actually hardy up your plants way better than any other product out there and i know from experience that it will increase your yields if used properly used

Lot's of folks have been hit by the BORG of insects, Spidermites and feel your pain. Surrender IS NOT an option. Fight the lil beaties to the very end. Lots of good tips in this thread and my personal method has worked for me.

Spider Mite Control

Here's what I have used with good results!
permalink

Spider mites SUCK! If you have them on one plant chances are they are on all of them. So very small and difficult to see unless you use a loupe or magnifier(at least for me anyways). I had one harvest *almost* get ruined by the critters and then I fought back with technology...and won! I did not want to use any chemicals on my ladies so close to harvest, and ended up using...STEAM!:fire:

Bought a Rowenta steamer from Bed Bath &Way Beyond and it worked like a charm! Best way is to do this somewhat *safely* is to water your plants, wait an hour and then hit the plants EVERYWHERE with the steam. You cannot concentrate the steam in any one area for too long or you'll cook the poor plant!:leaf: The neat thing about this is the temperature. The mites simply crumble and die as soon as the hot steam hits them! Again you HAVE to be careful or you'll cause more harm than good, but if you pay attention to what your doing, you can do this! After you have hit all areas thoroughly, let your ladies rest for 1-2 days then hit em again. The live mites die easily but the eggs may still hatch (nasty things). If you cannot control the mites after 3 steam treatments, you should abandon ship and chop em down, sorry. Good luck and let us know how you faired in this time of crisis.
