Your crazy if you have not got the NPS yet they work great and the sooner the better. Just put them in for a week you should be all good.

There are plenty of different products available to knock spidermite on the head, most of them work real well. If you get spidermite on clones and young cuttings, the standard insecticidal soap bath will kill them. On older plants you will need something containing a light mixture of neem oil. Be careful with neem oil, it is not meant to be used on foliage. Neem oil comes under the category of dormant oil, oil that is meant to be sprayed on plants during fall and winter when they naturally lose their leaves (deciduous). This is why it is important to use neem at under half the recommended mixture on foliage. Once you are in budding you will burn the tips of your buds with any oil sprayed on as the oil stops the buds from breathing.

Aside from that, you need to attack the mite at least twice, once to get the adults and the second time to get the newly hatched youngsters.

Lastly, the main reason people get a second attack of the mite, is essentially the same reason they got them the first time. If you have not investigated how you got them the first time and eliminated that source, then you will get them back again.

Typical sources of mite are:
- on the growers clothes
- on pets
- on other bugs that fly into the grow room
- on bugs that have gone through the intake fan and been killed/blended by the fan thuse releasing the mites
- intake fans that allow light to leak out. mites are attracted to light just like moths are
- any light leaks from the grow room period will attract mites
- under pot rims that have been used in previous grows
- on plants brought in from another grow room
- on grow gear that has been brought in from another grow room that had mites

Hope that helps

AVID or FLORAMITE. the only thing that will reliably get rid of the bastards NOW..good luck.found on ebay pretty easy

Thanks guys, the beneficial bugs were doing there thing but the bad guys were still doing there thing also on other fan leaves...so I went out and got the hot spot NPS and put it in yesterday...hopefully they die...will they fall off? I was thinking maybe I could take the strip out and release the live ladybugs I still have in a week or 2 to eat all the mite bodies? LOL what do you guys think?

i know some people at the oakland museum they tent things (old tapestries and such) and use gas to kill bugs they use co2 for 3 days and n2 for 24 hours n2 works better and faster they say but co2 is cheaper for the big tent 12x12 the n2 they use in bags they put stuff in then keep inflated with n2. dont think thats really an option with your plants

Never used AVID, but Floramite will take them right out.

You can find it on eBay, but you normally need a license to purchase it, It's VERY strong stuff!!!

Wear gloves and eye protection as with anything that is mixed a few DROPS/gallon.

if you do not use avid or floramite you might as well just keep your money in your pocket and shoe them away..i got avid at my local green house supply in the summer. they shut down in the winter. none of the hydro shops here carry it on the shelf.
i went into one shop and the lady seen me looking at her bug killers. and she said you got mites? i said no..she said if you ever do we have some stuff to get rid of em..
i told her no you dont. everything you have here NONE of it will kill them..i think most of the stuff is a afrodiziak to em..they just eat more and breed harder on neem oil..LOL
the dr dooms? junk..wont kill em. if your wasting your time with all the B S and your money on things that dont work..all the while watching the little commie bastards destroy your babys.
you might as well tell the little fuckers SHOOOO...SHOE GO AWAY..LOL
NUKE THEM NOW...AVID OR FLORAMITE. else they will screw you over to where you wont believe ...this is a gun fight with those little bastards..if you dont get fast on the draw killing them they WILL kill your babys.

OK, so I didn't bother to read all 7 pages of advice. But I am a long time organic grower with years of experience with mites and other insects.

If you have an infestation to the point of "webbing" go get some azamax. azamax is omri listed for vegtables, and is made from the stuff in neem that spidermites hate. It is not poisonous and the human body can handle lots of the stuff (not to mention many cultures injest neem for health).

I have used organic neem in conjunction with wetting agents like "penetrator" and drop of dish soap, and although that is great to spray on plants every other week to avoid mite infestation, it won't make them leave or die..

Many insecticides and miticides are made from poisons, when sprayed on plant (or in the air they breath) the plant holds on to these molecules which takes time for the plant to grow through them (pyrethrem bombs and such should only be used during vegging stage so plant has time to grow it out...).

If you use one of those no pest strips that many people on these forums advise, you will be smoking those poisons that are designed to kill life. not worth it.

I grow organic medicine for truly sick people, not herb to sell to "get high"... I cannot justify introducing these chemicals to many patients, especially cancer patients that have had chemo treatments... these dangerous chemical poisons can have a huge (think death) impact on someone with a weakened system.

Azamax is the only recommendation I can give as a safe way to treat a spider mite infestation. Yeah its costs, and you have to go to a real grow store, but it is the only organic treatment I have ever seen that can completely neutralize a mite infestation in 2 weeks (4 applications).

I think that if you listened earlier, and got the Hot Shots NPS, that you would be done with this problem weeks ago, AND would have saved alota money.

It's really easy, water the plants, put the NPS in, turn fans off, come back in 4 days and they're gone... ALL OF THEM!

No need to spray anything on the plants at all... Just let the NPS do it's thing and you'll be good. Just wait, your gonna come back here tomorrow or the next day and your response will be:
"OMG guys, all the mites are gone! The Hot Shots NPS really DOES work! I should have just listened in the first place and gotten one of those a while ago!"

lol

ok so the NPS was in there, I think they died...I see some dead ladybugs frozen on the plant basically...and I think a couple of the mites were too...they didn't move at least...but at the same time...the plants look like they've developed what I'm thinking is an Iron deficiency in the short time that the NPS was in there...I dono if it was coincidence...they're in 3...2 gal DWC setups...yellowing, droopy leaves with ugly spots on them that are curling up at the ends...eww...a friend reccomended calmag or something...anyone know if it coulda been the NPS? I did a res change and lowered the amount of nutes in the water...I'll keep you guys posted...it's happening worst on my bubbleberry that was previously lookin' great...(in week 4 of flower)

i have nps in the bucket of every other plant and they look good and it keeps them away .i had 2 nps and they came back to a plant 4 feet away from it so now i have them every 2 feet or so and have had no more mites.

I don't think it's the nps causing your problem. I've had 5 of them in one room, and the plants did fine... though, I suppose it's possible that different strains react differently. I doubt it's that though.

k...I'm pretty sure the NPS is gangster...no bugs...however I ended up with a mag deficiency...I'm treating it...but I dono how it will get better...but in the end...the NPS killed the bastards!

I know this is an old thread but i feel this is relivent.... I have a small mite issue and i understand they can get out of control quickly. so i bought two hot shot NPS. one for my veg box and one for my flower box. I grow with LED's so my temps are fine without using an exhaust right now... my question is:

Should I hang them or set them on the floor?

Is it okay to use internal fans within the grow area while using the strips?

Listen up people new shit on the market called "That stuff" Mighty wash". Quit killing yourselfs and other with Avid, and all the other shit we spray on our weed. Most grow stores do not even know what this shit is....but everyone will soon. Trust and old stoner and give it a shot. No I'm not a vender or the dude that make the stuff I'm just and old stoner that trys to keep up with the new and most intersesting things out. This shit will change how we all grow for the better...

This is what I know.
1. it is made with 99.9% H20 infused with frequency(I have no idea what that means).
2. It kills all mites and soft body little insects.
3. You can drink the shit out of the bottle or use it as bong water with no ill effects to humans.
4. it is manufactured by a company called NPK ?
5. You can find it on line or at you better grow shops.
6. it can be used anytime in the growth cycle up to the last day.
7. I tested it on one flower that was 6.5 wks into flower that was covered with mites, sprayed as dirrected on the 1 flower, I could not find a single mite on the whole plant the following day.
8. Give it a shot it cost 35$ for 1 gal. If it don't work you can started an I hate Lung Butter tread. Shit I hate to think of all the money I've wasted on shit that don't work.
9. It can be used with all other forms of mite treatment but most of the info I'm hearing says throw all the poison away and just use Mighty wash at the first sign of mite infestation. Treat as clones treat at the end of veg treat if needed in full flower I'm guessing 1-2 gal per grow if you are flowering 15 plants per cycle at a time ( WA. state Law). That is 35-75 $ investment per grow.
