I’m 3 weeks into flower right now wondering what your experience with light distance is. Ik a lot of ppl say keep them 24 inches even in flower to not have any kind of stress but then idk what kind of ppfd I’m hitting. Rn I have it at 16 inches away at 60% plants love it. Have co2 temps are around 80. I’m wondering if I can move it 12 or 10” away like it recommends and actually knoe I’m hitting the proper ppfd. Thanks :)
Hey mate, Give or take I'm in the same position as yourself.

This is my first powerful light as before this I have only used the SF1000.

As per the following image Spider farmer recommends the following height and percentage of power during the following stages of growth.

It's my first time running this light so I am experimenting with it myself too, at the moment my light is around 18-20" above the plant.

Yea I found that chart last night was at 16” and dropped it down to 12” today and dialed it back to 50% so at least Ik I’m hitting minimum DLI. For as if the plants can handle it or like it I haven’t seen any signs of heat stress or light bleaching but it’s only been 1 12 hour cycle. Keeping a close eye so will let you know. If adjusted properly I don’t think the plants should have a problem handling it from 12” esp not full power yet. I’m mid flower. VPD is dialed so I’m sure they could handle it to be turned up. But slow and steady with the dimming. Don’t think distance matters as much as long as you don’t blast your plant right away

Update 02/03/22

All is moving along nicely.

I did notice the upper portion of the plant is slightly lighter than the rest of the lower growth.. Any suggestions as to what maybe the cause of this?

Thanks.

Update 04/03/22

Things are moving along, However I did begin to notice it's not drinking as much as it was before. i would normally water it with 2 liters every other day.

Now that it's stretch phase is over the plant is not drinking as much, because of this I also noticed many of the growth to be turning a lighter green...

Any thoughts on what could be causing such a thing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

After looking into it the most i can come up with is its an iron deficiency, as described in the following video he breaks dwn various reasons as to different yellowing plan stages and what deficiency may be causing said issue.

Worth a watch -

I have some chelated iron on hand that ill mix in on my next watering and see how it goes

Update 07/03/22

Made a pretty nasty mistake and made the plant hit nutrient lockout...

Runoff ppm was almost 3500... so flushed until I got it down to around 1000

I'm hopeful that this helped but she isn't looking too happy with me...

It pains me to see it like this, but hey you live and you learn It's only my second grow and i was experimenting with new nutes and pre amended soil.

Next run Ill just use a biobizz all mix and follow their feeding guide at half the strength just to play it safe.

This is all human error and nothing to do with the light obviously, mistakes were made and ill have to bite the bullet and learn from it.

I don't think its a lost cause just yet so ill leave it and see what happens.

Update 11/03/22

Plant is still suffering from the nutrient lockout...

It seems to be slowly "healing" but I have my doubts as it's still barely drinking at all after the flush...

Meanwhile my 20:1 CBD in the grey pot seems to be doing well for being just 20 days old, haven't fed yet as it doesn't seem to need it and don't want to replicate what happened to my Charlotte's Angel to happen to the small one so taking it easy. Especially since it's my 2/3rd grow ever and I'm using a pre ammended potting soilIMG_20220310_211354.jpgIMG_20220310_211402.jpg

Little update 14/03/22

She hasn't recoverd from the nute lockout.
Furthermore she's stopped drinking all together after the flush I gave her... She's on day 64 .. gonna let he go as long as she can feeding off what she's got in her leaves and choo her down when she's had it.

Lessons learned - always water till runoff to avoid access salts building up.

Meanwhile her younger sister seems to be moving along nicely (day 27 from seed)

Little Update 17/03/22

Small plant moving along nicely.

Meanwhile the larger plant still isn't drinking as it should, it's leaves are yellowing and drying up so assuming the worst.... Either root rot or nutrient lockout... Most probable cause imo is nute lockout as I didn't water till runoff.. ever..

Should I cut my losses and harvest it now or wait for her to use up all she has from what's left of her green leaves? Screenshot_20220317-191822.jpg

Just read through your journal. You're doing a good job. The only way you learn is by making some mistakes. Each new plant you go into that grow with more knowledge than you had with the previous plant. It gets better and better.

Little update 18/03/22

Was removing a few dead leaves from my nute locked plant, ended up accidentally pulling a bud off along with one of the leaves. I placed it under my microscope and took the following images.

What do you guys think is she almost ready for the chop? It's a high CBD strain and it looks about 80% 20% cloudy to clear.

Let me know and thanks in advance.

Harvested the Charlotte's Angel and now the only one left in the tent is the CBD 20:1 from fastbuds.

She is about to transition into flower and is about to begin her stretch phase pre flower.

Update 29/03/22

Things are steadily moving along and she's flowering well for being 42 days old.

Just did some LST for the first time as normally I use a scrog but don't have one for this tent as of yet.

For now she looks kinda f*cked but she'll bounce back. Normally even when I scrog within a few hours the bent branches already start turning towards the light.

Update 11/04/22

Things are slowly moving along.

Running into the same issue as my previous plant where its starting to yellow during the beginning of flowering...

Leading me to believe the issue is being caused by a faulty PH pen and making my PH go all over the place or my soil medium is no good.

Once this run is done I will buy new soil I am going to use Biobizz all mix and buy myself a nice PH pen.

Update 19/04/22

Little update, apologies for the long gap between posts been facing a few problems at the office and have been working overtime...

The plant is still showing slight signs of being underfed so i gave it a good dose of some flowering nutes followed by some chelated iron and a very miniscule amount of growth fert.

She seems to have bounced back and responded well but still has a slight yellowish tint to her.

Drinking water as normal so unlike my previous plant I'm not facing any nute lock out.

I think the main issue was my ph of my soil being off...

Little update. The plant is on day 70

White hairs still visible. I think it has at least a week or two left till harvest.

What are your thoughts?
