Specific Information Needed

I'm a first time grower and I wanted some advice on my grow situation. I have a 2.6 by 2.6 foot closet. I'm trying to grow two plants and the door needs to be closed. Should i go for a 250 watt or 400 watt HPS light? What kind of timers should i get and what is the most efficient time length to set them at. Let me know if you can help. Thanks

id go with 400w if u can control heat.
not sure for timer but i use those GREY timer (Metal Box)

time: Veg 18/6 (2-4week)
flower: 12/12 7-10 weeks

well i went with a 400watt hps wen i decided to start and my bill was like 300$+ what it was because of the high price of electricity in cali and i had it runnin 18hrs.. i use flourescent lights for vegatating so i can leave the light on 24 hrs and not have a 600$ bill.. then i use the hps for 12/12 light schedule.. i wish i got a 250 watt anyways lol
