Southern Ontario (Canada) backyard grow - flowering?

Hey there,
Im just north of Toronto and my skunk#1xGod Bud plants are looking good. The thing is that they haven't really started to flower. I can tell I have 4 females for sure, but the other 5 are just showing preflowers.

Are many peeps out there still vegging, or have most started to flower at this point. It has been a hot summer, so maybe that's influencing it a bit??

I still think that I'll be fine with the 6-8 week flower time.

I don't see how you could tell if they were female without signs of flowering. But I'm still vegging (and I'm north of Barrie by two hours), though my males are showing (took two down already). My brother is 2 hours south of me started flowering about 2 weeks ago, but his plants get 14 hours of direct sunlight and always finish before mine. By the end of this week you're girls (hopefully) will show signs. Keep this in mind: more direct sunlight = quicker flowering and bigger yields. The direct sunlight plants will also be significantly shorter as they don't need to stretch to reach the light.

im about 3 hours east of toronto. I have signs of pre flower, lucky me only 1 male out of 7 plants. Pulled the male this past weekend. I was thinking they are somewhat late and was worried a bit.

Pre-flowers, eh? Hmmm, those can be subtle and deceptive. Don't count your chickens just yet. After this week you'll know for sure.

i did pull one male so far, and another one is ?male. A couple plants, as I said are showing hairs. I know for a fact that last summer at this time i was well into flowering in my backyard. Although, those strains were all pure indica, and the skunk#1xgod bud are a hybrid, perhaps sativa dom with the delayed flowering...

I am on Vancouver Island and have not seen any flowering yet. My dads plants were started in April indoors, have been outdoors since May, and still show nothing either way.

Question: How long will they need at a minimum to flower and produce medium grade pot..... 6 or 7 weeks???

I can't see cutting at 6 weeks. 7 weeks if the cops are on the way over. 8 is usually good if you've got the right strain (quicker-finishing, indica-dominant), but many go a few weeks (2-4 more) past that. Some crazy sativa-dominant plants can run 14-16 weeks. You don't want those outdoors in Canada, no matter where you are.

Interesting that at a variety of latitudes the plants are basically at the same point. I found another male today, and am 98% sure of the females simply by their lack of nuts, rather than them bursting out with pistils. My one female did slow a bit this week, which can be the calm before the storm of flowering. It's very close to busting out. Mine is a Querkle, by the way.

For good or bad I am feeling a little better about my outdoor grow. I am just South of the 45th Parallel and have not started to flower yet. Just hope the frost don't get me at the end.

mold will get you before that, usually. with frost you can take certain steps. I predict that by this time next week all of us will be visibly flowering. Book it, Danno.

sup guys. newbie to the board and relative newbie grower. I was just looking online wondering about my flowering period as i was getting worried about it getting late in the season. This thread was what i found. I have 2 strains outdoor this year, blueberry kush and skunk. Im in the GTA and the blueberry kush are all about 3 weeks into flowering, got nice little white tops, but the skunks are a little behind them. they've had signs for a couple weeks as the hairs are there but the buds havent developed. I thought it would have been the other way around isnt skunk indica and the bb kush a hybrid? If i am seeing hairs come in nicely now, approximately how long should it be from here on out to harvest? The Skunk are gonna be way bigger for sure. 2 of my skunks are already 5 ft tall and the tallest kush is barely over 4 ft right now.

lost 6 of 10 plants to the dreaded affliction of being male!!!
got 4 females just started to show hairs. Geez, long veg time. Is everyone in Southern Ontario deep into flowering? It's been a long warm summer. Can we post some flowering pics here please?

I'm in southern ont, my master kush has shown sex and is busy doing its transition to full flowering. Seeing some good clumps of white hairs. Flowering period for this stuff is supposed to be 6-8 weeks so hopefully things should be done around thanksgiving.

I'm in mississauga and my plants are still in veg mode, they get a full day of sun , and I was started to get worried about them. Hopefully they start flowering soon. Can changing the nutes on them maybe hurry up the process ?

Flowering nutes do not induce flowering. The plant in veg mode simply does not need what the flowering nutes would give it. Cannabis flowers when the light of the day shortens and nears 12/12. That makes the flowering plant think that it is going to die, so it starts to flower (so as to propogate itself with the help of the pollenating male). Plants that take a while to flower should be given verbal death threats to freak it out and make it think it's going to die. Maybe wave a pistol (not pistil) around too.

My Arjan Haze 3 last year started flowering in September, but they were sativa leaning. And not getting good direct sun. And weren't afraid enough about dying.

Cool, now if there was only a way to make a solar retracting roof to be able to control the amount of sun they get :P
