Hey y'all it looks like the idiots who ran the Oak ridge National Laboratory's recently decided that it wanted to get the southerners on their staff to speak more neutral and to be remembered for what they said and not how they said it and to advance this concept a class was offered to help the southern employees who's accent was a little to mayberryish to tone down their southern drawl.......to this I say y'all dunnin lost yo mind.....lord have mercy......well its time for me to start cooking the evenen viddles.
Y'all come back now ya here....

Must be this sour diesel creeping on me... I read your post, heard it in a southern drawl right away, and quickly lost track of what I was reading.

That being said, I can dig it. I say "y'all" even though I"m from the north because i have friends from the south.

Southern people do sound dumb. Add in a political opinion and they almost sound retarded.

Sarah Palin is an Alaska version a stupid Southerner. But I would love to fuck her and the more she talked the harder I would fuck.

It's a dialect that's contagious. It's funny how many people pick it up in just a short time down South, myself included. I also enjoy talking to a Texan. Most of them have an easy, how do you do, way of speaking. interesting.

Southern accents always sound friendly to me.

North Eastern and urban ghetto accents, on the other hand, sound pretty fucking retarded.

West coast accents sure can sound faggy, and the mid-west accents sound almost foreign.

To each their own I reckon...

What's with the attempt to ho homogenize people? I absolutely love any kind of accent. I think it's beautiful.

I'd rather obama was a southerner than whatever it is he currently is accent wise. Hell, I'd much rather hear someone in politics with a down to earth accent like that of a southerner, than this disconnected private school preppy "i'm so perfect" tailored voice. Might make you think this is someone who actually knows the first thing about what the rest of the country have to witness, not someone who clearly hasn't had to endure much real life (whether it is or is not the case; e.g listening to that spivvy fool david cameron attempt to tell the impoverished working class that he's going to make everything better for them uhhhhhhuhhh)

I have a slight southern drawl but not as pronounced as my grandparents. Each state has a different dialect and by this point I can tell who is from Georgia or South Carolina.

So.. hey ya'll :) Stop by sometime for some fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, corn on the cob and sweet potato casserole and cornbread. Wash all that down with some sweet tea and a large slice of chocolate meringue pie while listening to Muddy Waters sing "Champagne and Reefer".

Texan here, there is a wide variety of Southern accents. Despite being from Texas I kinda think ours is one of the worst. Too twangy. I like how they talk in central VA where I used to live. Very smooth

I'm from Texas but don't have an accent. A lot of people I meet are surprised when they find out where I'm from.

Living in Texas people thought I was from the North East.

Kinda weird. I don't really notice southern accents really, but that's mostly because I've grew up in the south. The cowboy drawl is noticeable, but more so in the slang used and not so much the sound of their voices.

Now a fun accent, is Australian. I don't know what it is but every time I hear an Aussie speak I just want to grab him a beer and listen to what he has to say.

Bulgarian accents scare the piss out of me though. Had a customer the other day that was Bulgarian. Made me a little nervous. Doesn't help that he only bought a tarp, sawzall, and duct tape.
