southern dirt

I really wanted to grow weed the old school way, with the exception of using a lite stronger than a desk lamp. I just moved to mississippi from chicago and the dirt here is redish brown and kind of like clay. We got some real good veggies planting in this soil so im trying two seeds indoors to see what happens. this is my first time planting in 10 years. I germinated about 17 seeds and two of them cracked in less than 24hrs. So,I got two small pots to plant each one in and put 750 uv lamp over it. Any pointers about the soil ,etc.

Quality potting soil would be ideal, but you may be able to make do with what you have. I'd read up on CFL lighting and supplement the light you have because I don't know that it's suitable for growing. I wouldn't put more than one seedling per pot either.

Not sure the type of light the 750UV is but UV lights are really only used in flowering as the rays have been shown to increase THC production. Not very efficient heat wise though for everday photosynthesis. As for soil, Foxfarm would be a great place to start but if you are sticking with your natural soil you should add in a good deal of perlite and some moss to help with compaction.

The clay type dirt that is prominant in southern states is very hard and new plants and their tiny roots have a hard time making and taking a hold. You can you mix in some perlite, promix or some other type dirt to help promote growth and root structure.
There is some great dirt out there but from what your describing it sounds like it will be tough growing.
