How could heat not be a factor with out a vented hood ?
i would def like to hear more about the kap setup. my tent is also 4x8x7 with a 600w. it does make sense that it is the most efficient use of the bulb. but heat, plant exposure to light, and room to go into the tent and do maintenance seem to be the first difficulties that come to mind.

i just was runnin a 400 mh hooded on six inch inline 75* solid for 14 hours or so, pulled hood out no longer losing 60% of light to reflection and glass cutting 20% of lumens i had no change in temps and a 400 lit the whole tent for veg, 600 for flower still fine and it is blazing bright. i run a six inch honeywell fan that can be pointed straight up it keeps the bulb cool i direct it right under the bulb straight up and hot air stuck at the roof where my inline takes it out of the tent hot air rises cold air sinks. its using thermal dynamics to your advantage. remember that metal holds heat and no matter what that hoods gonna heat up hotter than ambient try it you will be surprised. pull your hood apart remove the socket hang it. tws your space is so small 2 600s may need ac not positive but one would WELL be enough bare bulb sooooooooooooooooo much light

You Know Kapt it makes good sence for sure. Back when I was a pup and you had to basically buy your gear from only a few places underground buy using the phone because there wasn't internet(lol) We used the parabolic hood and the spread was a lot further then recomended now a days. There was no vented hoods. Of course this was in a bedroom that all of the room wasn't used and at the beach.(cooler) It worked fine on 1K and grew a lot of 1 gal pots. There are alot of commercial grows I see with Vert lights.

Soooooo ? I do have a portable AC I put in there and pipe out the exhaust But I'm not so sure your gonna convince me to go back to the drawing table just yet and ditch the hoods yet. LOL  :-o:-o

I hate to say it but my new addiction might me DWC. I can't stop thinking about it and are brain storming how to hook up a RDWC .:hump: Not sure what and how/when the water moves through the res and what fitting to use to be leak free. I read some of the DWC cooler thread And might be able to do this this summer. 2 - 4 big ones ! Of course it will cut dow on my outdoor number. I might just run some big water jug coolers with air. I'm addicted.

Even though me and the kaptain had our differences in the past I can confirm this is 100% correct. Do like he is saying and you will notice the difference in brightness right away. And I don't mean a little brightness. Its MUCH brighter then what it was before. Give it a try.

lol don't forget #22 always a competitor for the podium. especially as an independent. can't deny villapoto's skill though. even through the air his toes are in and gripping the bike with his knees. solid fundamentals. no wonder he can ride wide open around the whole track!

Bennies: What are they and what do they do ? I think it's something I need ? I've been doing some reading and I understand they help control rot and alage. Very important. Kapt could you please explain and send me a recepie. All so I think you mentioned you have a feeding schedule based on TDS ? That would be helpfull too. I now have two 5 gallon water cooler jugs going with two more to come eventually maybe three. I'm likeing the science and no soil part of it. Watch by next year I will have a 8 pot RDWC going lol !:leaf:
