No the plant will adapt to the more light. And definitely move the light closer. Put your Palm up at canopy height and if you don't feel the lights then your plant will be ok! MORE LIGHT = MORE BUD!
Just watch your room temperatures and make sure you have proper humidity.

Yes more light, that sprout is super stretchy it is reaching for light. Get a good T5 HO setup.
