Something is eating my F&%$@#G Roots!

My one and only Church started going downhill a couple of weeks ago. One day I went out and she was nearly dead. All the leaves were completely limp. I just had a hunch that the problem was in the roots. I touched the stalk and it nearly fell over; it basically had no roots except for little stubs 2-3" long. I brought it inside and snipped 11 clones from it. They are looking amazing.

Today I went out to water my plants and one of my Super Lemon Haze was looking the exact same way. I grabbed the shovel and a container and dug it up. There were no vermin that I could see with the naked eye but that's not to say it's not fungus gnats. I took 10 clones from it.

I thought I would take a couple of shots of before I took the clones off and show what was happening. I've got a sample jar of the soil that I'm going to go through very thoroughly tomorrow.

Well it is easy to see it isn't from over fertilization because your leaf damage is from wilting from the missing roots, not damaged from nute burn.. I tried to do some searches and there is a shit load of stuff that does eat roots of plants, I am thinking you will need a jewelers loupe at very least.

Sorry to see that shit happening ..

did you over water your plants? it looks like your plant was over watered too many times. and your roots being the color they are look like root rot. and if your roots get the water they need they dont need to expand much but thats only if you over watered i could be wrong tho.

I treat my plants with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. When they tell me (by drooping leaves) they need water, I give them a drink. When the bottom leaves start turning yellow I give them a dose of food along with their water. During the last couple of weeks it has been really hot and I've noticed that the plants are needing a lot more water than usual. It is possible that this particular one was getting (or retaining) too much water. When I planted it, upcanned from a 2 gallon container, it was mostly clay and rocks when I dug the hole for the plant. At any rate, the clones have perked up this morning and are looking amazing. This disaster does have a silver lining; I now have 10 new Super Lemon Haze plants! :) Thanks for the comments guys.

Yeah I think it was a good call on root rot, that clay is probably the culprit.. I killed a plant within one day planting it in clay like stuff, now I just keep them in buckets my dirt will hurt. lol
