Nice, seen Nature's Chaos?

Thought they looked like cichlids.. How big is your pond? Above or in-ground?
It's a 6'x9' inground oval at 2' deep. So 6x9x2x7.5=so about 800 gallons. Thats where I kept the dinner Tilapia this past summer. It was funny they and the koi all schooled together.

i'd like to report that Fred made it thru the night just fine. how much do you feed them? :eyesmoke:
Well as a general guideline a lot of fish food say to feed what they will consume in 3 minutes. What do the instructions say?
Try feeding him one pellet at a time to not make a mess. Allow him time to chew in between. maybe 4-6(+) pellets twice a day to start off with. Maybe someone else has a better idea.
:peace:

Also if you notice food collecting on the bottom you should clean it out in order to avoid a nitrate spike. This can be toxic for Fred

I laughed when I saw who posted this thread.:-P

I use to have a couple of Oscars but they got old and passed and I haven't gotten any new fish since.

I have some kludged DIY grow cabinet with CFL, etc. Probably spent more than I should. Yet it was nothing compared to what I spent on my reef tank, and that was low-budget, DIY-style. I hate to think how much I would have spent on the rock alone if I didn't find some sweet deals from people getting rid of tanks.

With my new hobby, the goal is to be self-sufficient. It will ultimately pay for itself. However, I have some ideas for a future stealth cabinet that pairs with a tank - perfect cover: "What's that noise over there. Oh look, a pretty tank." :)

Fred has been hanging in the weeds most of the night, then he juts out thru them and looks like he is cleaning himself by rubbing on the plant. this normal? sometimes he looks like he is being cradled by them. is that how they sleep? Bert is trained, Fred, not so much :eyesmoke:

I love Beta's. I have an orange one named Penelope. I put glow in the dark plants in her tank so i'd have something cool to look at while i'm smoking.
