Some Simple PH and EC questions.

So with my first grow coming to an end with only a handful of the kit needed I decided to buy the rest of the stuff to make the next lot even better. I have not had any real problems with my first grow of white rhino. Never tested PH, or measured the EC of the food etc... Not the right lights, wrong extraction system, all giving heat problems.... And they seem to be turning out quite well.

Perhaps luck ? Well to be safe I now have the extra kit needed.

So with regard to PH.

I have now started 2 Kalashnikova, with my new PH meter I got the water to around 6.2PH.

I think it should be between 5.5 and 6.5 ? Better towards the low end ? Or top end of that scale ?

Does PH differ between strains ?

EC Questions....

What should I aim for with EC ? What figures ? Since they are small I should start low and work up over the weeks ?

Do you measure the EC before or after the Bloom when flowering ? And do you measure the PH before or after the nutes have been added ? I am guessing after as the nutes will change the PH ?

If I mix up some nutes I usually keep them for 2 feeds so my bhucket will sit for maybe 3 days after the first feed. is this ok ? Does the PH or EC change in that time ?

Well, I think that might be about it. Maybe simple ones but we gotta start somewhere right ? :-)

............Say wut ?
What type of growing method are you using?

Soil?
Hydro?
DWC?
Aero?
Ebb and Flo?

We need to know a little more about how you are growing in order to tell you pH ranges and how to read EC's if you are using hydro etc.

pH for soil is different to that of hydro you see.

Ah... Ok. Did not realise that. Sorry :-)

I am growing in regular soil. Nothing special, just the cheap stuff from the local garden centre. I went for something with very low fert since I was adding nutes myself.

Here is a link to the EC meter which I bought. It does not appear to have the regular 1.1,2.2 etc readings ? It looks different ? EC Range: 0 - 9990 µS (µS/cm) ???

The PH Meter I bought is a water based one where I test the water going into the plant. I have nothing for testing the PH of the actual soil.

Thanks for any advice :-)

ok the ph should be exactly 6.5 in soil 5.8 in hydro to catch all minerals in the nutrients trust me on this one.

although in hydro its impossible to catch manganese at ph 5.8
