Hi all new to the forum and first time seting up and growing,
here is what I have:
Sunmaster 600watt dimmable ballast,
Sunmaster 600watt has and mh bulbs,
Ruck 5" rvk fan with 5" duct,
Rhino carbon filter.
2 x 4 hydrolab tent,
Ram clip on fan,
Black orchid light timer,
Variispeed fan speed controller,
So what I want to know does the rvk have to be on 24/7 as well as the ram clip in fan? Or shall I have them come on and go off with the light?,
Also as my tent is a bit short for room up top can I run the filter externally if so is there pros and cons to this?,
And any other hint n tips u guys can give me thanks all :).

sup redge,

nice setup you should have there,

ta help ya out,

your extractor would be beneficial to be on 24/7 as this would reg temp's plus you will provide an exchange of fresh air for your girls, some grows don't use a an extractor filter till later on in veg as there is a minimal smell coming off the girls, its a choice but as nutes said above read up on it as extracting air will give ya more co2 that your babies will appreciate.
An idea is to get a controller for your extrator to reduce noise and you can reg the temps better,

regarding your filter you would need to have this inside so as to filter the smell through, the fan pulling through the filter could be outside but the filter would need to be inside if i understand your query correctly…. techniques such as fim'n, topping and super cropping are useful method with height restrictions… have a search on those techniques...

another thing is i would get a oscillating fan aswell or maybe two seeing your grow is 4x2.. you wanna replicate the great outdoors and have a intermitting breeze coming over your ladies, I'm presuming your clip on is not osc.,the clip whilst it should be used but wouldn't be ideal to permanently have blowing directly on you girls…

good luck man, i am on my 2nd grow now so have a look at my first grow(cfl) i started from knowing eff all but with alot of reading managed to get over the line thanks to the folks here…. its all in here….

peace...

Great reply mate helps alot :) have read on to fim'n and topping not super cropping unless that's were u bend the plant stems over?, no the clip on isn't oscillating but it is powerful for a little fan will leave the clip on and the exhuast on 24/7 then, I have a speed controller for the exhuast I will mount the rhino filter inside then and the rvk exhuast fan outside should that work ?, one more thing can anyone recommend a shorter plant strain (height limitations) that is good for a beginner was looking at blue cheese as the seeds wernt to expensive opinions? Thanks again perspextoe

glad ta help bro, yeah thats s-cropping is bending the stem over a tad to break the inner wall of the stem,

if you get topping and fim'n you should keep control of height then if you had a stray stem heading skyward's a bit of super cropping would sort that…

height limitations, like i had in my grow where I had/have only about 20 inches from the top of my pot to the cfls….. I grew out afghan skunk(advanced seeds) as it was an easy beginner strain and short…

have a look at herbies website for suggestions on shorties… hit a indica or mainly indic a hybrid…. you should get too much stretch on these babies… Id love ta grow some sativa on my next run but i just wanna make sure I have my stash loaded in case things get effed up….

I am running with Northern Lights Blue from Delicious at the mo… nearly 3 wks into 12/12 and still quite short….

Peace out and love…

You can place the filter any ends of the exhaust air system if your doing it from the intake end. The pre filter should be placed on the outside as the odors will come in contact from outside of the filter and if it's on the exit end pre filter should be from inside as the odor will come in contact with the filter from the inside.

Don't have your filter running until you start flowering. You're wasting it's life by running air through it during veg

opening both vents got it down to 25.8 reckon if i get a can blowing through the inlet vent it will get it in the 24's? , outside the tent temp is 22.

Exhaust tied into dryer vent with a y connector with a check valve o the dryer side so the exhaust doesnt blow into the dryer...co2 bag...got it at my local growing store ...basically mushrooms that produce co2 to help the ladies ...bags last 3-4 months
