Looks to me like its a heat evaped distillate. That is to say, it looks like what I get from my modified "steam" distillation (process details are in the solventless section of my Vapor Volumes). The only other solventless extraction I've heard of is dry or wet sift which all yields solid kief or grains. Does it smell different from bho - more earthy with a stronger herb but lighter piney scents? I find the heat extraction process captures a different ratio of secondary lipids than solvents do. Honestly though there's no way to know, and most dispensaries are liars. They love to mislabel extracts for profit or simple misdirection. Like when butane extraction became illegal in CA, suddenly they relabeled everything as co2 extract to avoid running afoul of the law. There are no regulations on solvent purity nor on the extraction processes, and anyone can claim basically anything with impunity. The dispensaries are aware of this and take advantage. It is likely (since a heat distillation of that quality would take a long time) that they are simply misrepresenting the extract. I've known dispensaries to label bho as solvent free bc the bho was well purged and no longer contaomed butane, and they didn't want to freak out the more nature centric patients. This is a problem though bc then the patients can't even ask what brand of butane was used, and most people who supply bho to dispensaries use crappy contaminated butane bc it bulks their end weight. TLDR: dispensaries lie constantly about extracts. The only way to take advantage of that medicine safely is to make it yourself using safe materials. Its easy, check the link in my sig for a full rundown
