hi all, im wondering if i can use soil nutes in a hydro /dwc bubbler system ?
i currently have ionic soil grow and bloom nutes and wondered if they can be used in the above system??. if not, any advice on which nutes to get would be greatfull ?? thanx in advance.

There are two type of nutrients a plant uses.

The macronutrients are N P K

The micronutrients are all the metals like iron, calcium, boron, manganese. magnesium, copper, etc............

Dirt firts don't have the micronutes in them,
since the plant get it's miconutes from the soil.

No metals in the water,
so hydro nutes have the micronutes added to them
where as dirt nutes do not.

There is plenty of calcium in tapwater
and you should use hydro nutes for tap water
if you are going to grow in TW.

Calcium bonds with Magnesium
and will "lock out" the Mg from the plant
when you use TW.

Hard water nutes have a reduce amount of Ca which helps to prevent Mg lock.

hi earl, if i were to get some micro nutes and add it to the nutes i have would that be ok ?

If your soil nutes are organic you wouldnt want to use them because of the risk of bacteria growing in your resevior. Some people still use it anyways because its organic with no chemical ferts but the nute solution can get pretty stinky. If you do use it, I'd read up on it first or maybe someone will stop by and give you the whole 411.

hi earl, if i were to get some micro nutes and add it to the nutes i have would that be ok ?

It would be pretty hard
to get all the micros in the correct proportions.

Especially sensitive is the ratio between Calcium, and Magnesium.

The nute mfg do this for you,
but if you have a good chemistry set,
and a very accurate "grain" scales,
you could chelate minerals,
and make you own hydro nutes.

Chelated(Key-late-ed) minerals will dissolve in water.

You can imagine how hard it is to chelate Mg,
since Mg and water don't mix,
without a rapid chemical reaction,
almost like fire.

The micros are used in super small amounts,
in hydro nutes.

Too much Iron results in iron toxicity,
and will quickly kill the plants.

Not enough Mg,
and the THC production would be very low.

Boron is very important,
with Manganese which is another critical element,
along with super small amounts of chlorine/chlorides.

I think it is cheaper to buy hydro nutes.

Ask Lucas - Cannabis-World
This thread will show you how to get by with cheap hydro nutes
and how to use the same solution for the whole grow.

To use Lucas method,
you must invest in a TDS meter,
and an accurate pH meter.

Get good meters from the start,
and you will save money in the long run.

Check out Milwaukee meters on ebay,
or Hanna meters with a detachable probe.

Plan to spend around $90 ea.

Don't get a trimeter.

The EC probes are not detachable
and the TDS function will fail.

i have been doing some research about micro nutrients for the simple fact of the one major difference that "hyrdro-nutrients" seem to have over nuts such as miracle grow is that it contains micro nutrients ...

1. Learned that regular tap water contains MANY MANY micro nutrients that are put into "Hyrdro-nuts"
2.thats why ppl use hyrdro nuts
3.and dont use MG liquid plant food or tranplainting ... BUT i found if u use a 1/4 solution of 15-30-15 and tap water and monitor ur PH .. things are perfectly fine and grow very well .. i have tried this experiment for myself ... and was shocked... im deff stoppp paying over a100 dollars for hyrdro-nutes.... im sure someone will disagree with me ... but i have done the facoring for myself .. yep yep .. stilll big dense nuggies ! w/e keep spending ur hundereds!! :)
