Hi all, so I live on a small island with only a few garden stores so choices are slim. I bought some regular soil and some Eco friendly soil enricher which says it has 1-2.5 % N 0.4-2% phosphate 0.4-1% potash. I also bought a bag of coco grow husk chips. I have to mix the soil with the enricher but I was thinking of mixing it with the coco husk as well or can I just use the coco husk as a grow medium? Basically I just wanna know if this sounds ok? I've started to germinate my seeds and they have already cracked and look ready to plant so i need to sort this out quick coz I wanna plant them tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

you could use the coco as a medium alone and mix some perlite in it. Or you could mix coco into your soil. And yea you could plant your seed now and plant it root down.

I haven't been able to find perlite in the garden stores here. Is that a problem? Also if I was to use the coco husk alone would that mean I'd have to put nutrients in the water now ?

Ur mix sounds OK, but the only thing that would concern me is the lack of a draining material, like perlite. Make ur mix and test the water drainage. If is not draining as quickly as u want u can add sand to help with water drainage instead of perlite. Not too much though!! U may have to make a few batches to see which works the best. Oh and watch ur PH i found that sometime coco can get a little acidic.
