To Rollitup, I posted I start with T5, but I goofed. I start with T8 fluorescent.
I read once that weed original came to Jamaica from India. With Jamaica and weed its from multiple sources i would say yes that might be one source but indian weed was took there as well
Yeah the indentured servants from india in turn brought it with them to Jamaica sadly Jamaica even has so many Scots second names to this day as a result of the slave days alot of scots help ran the plantations and gave them scottish christian names hell even rabby burns almost at one point nearly ended up working there few know that many would like to forget there guilt and history not me i think its important to never forgetI read once that weed original came to Jamaica from India.
I wanted to provide an update as my Ethiopian grow is winding down. Not done yet but I've started harvesting a few buds/branches every couple days.Following along because I've been wondering the same thing. I'm planning to grow an Ethiopian sativa by Ace later this summer. I have some left over super soil from my last grow, which was definitely on the hot side before I did a flower cycle in it. Now I'm not sure how depleted it got from that cycle, and am undecided between using it as-is, cutting it with some normal potting mix, or adding a bit of Tomato-tone either at the beginning or as a top-dress midway through flower...
Aye they like it light feed wise hey not so bad for a first run either bud hopefully she smokes good for you tooI wanted to provide an update as my Ethiopian grow is winding down. Not done yet but I've started harvesting a few buds/branches every couple days.
I grew two females - vegged until they showed sex, cloned, then flowered the clones. I grew them in 11-ish gallon SIPs in recycled soil. They seemed happy enough in veg, and when I transplanted the clones I amended the soil with ~1 TBS of Tomato Tone per gallon, plus some worm castings, and mulched with cannabis leaves. No other fertilizers were used during the grow.
I think the soil was still a bit too rich for them. Definitely not the prettiest grow, but I'm okay with it for my first attempt at a tropical/landrace sativa. I really like the strain and am planning to grow it again, maybe next time I won't amend the soil at all, or will try cutting it with sand or extra perlite. I've seen the sand recommendation in a few different places, including this thread.
Please enjoy some pics from early and mid/late flower.

Yup turns out "light" is even lighter than I thought... The smoke is great so far, excited to see how it ends up after the recommended 3-month cure...Aye they like it light feed wise hey not so bad for a first run either bud hopefully she smokes good for you too
It's mainly low nitrogen feeds they want like next to none or none at all kinda like haze in that regardYup turns out "light" is even lighter than I thought... The smoke is great so far, excited to see how it ends up after the recommended 3-month cure...
That's sorta what I was thinking too. The one on the left especially was clawing pretty much the whole time...It's mainly low nitrogen feeds they want like next to none or none at all kinda like haze in that regard
Looking pretty nice there! I just sprouted one of their Panama fems, I'm excited to see how it turns outHey Rollitup, Here is my Oaxaca x Panama from Ace seeds. Organic, six weeks of flowering. It grew perfect even with the soil dry. I noticed when I transplanted; big white roots. I thought to water it and that was a mistake! It almost didn’t make it! I realized it had poor soil for the genetics, so I rinsed some soil added a lot of vermiculite and clay pebbles and repotted. It is still burning with the soil/light? but slowly. Words of advice: don’t water much , a very airy substrate, and very little food.

Thanks weedstoner420, I grew the Banghi Haze x Panama once. It was ok, not great. Keep us updated I’m interested in the Panama . Oaxaca x P didn’t stretch… I don’t think Panama stretches. PeaceLooking pretty nice there! I just sprouted one of their Panama fems, I'm excited to see how it turns out

I've always seen it described as coarse sand. Not sure why to go with that over perlite, other than it's more "natural" and might provide better aeration due to smaller particle size...?I plan to grow some Malawi soon, but I'm not there yet. Got a question for y'all.
What is the thinking for the sand? Why not more peat or perlite? And are we talking coarse sand, or...?
I don't think Malawi will be as much of a problem. I think it is a hardy one. I'm not sure why sand is good but that was suggested earlier so I'm taking the suggestion. Good question. I'm still worried about my sand being right but what I had extra was called leveling sand so we'll see.I plan to grow some Malawi soon, but I'm not there yet. Got a question for y'all.
